The Lifesaving Society will provide a Training Institute (AMT, SEE Auditor, ASI).  The training will be hosted at the Remington YMCA in Quarry Park from November 15-16. Register.

Drowning Reports and Infographics
The Lifesaving Society has recently received the Canadian Drowning Report - 2017 Edition and the Alberta Drowning Report - 2017 Edition which are prepared for the Lifesaving Society Canada by the Drowning Prevention Research Centre Canada. Based on data collected from the Office of the Chief Coroner in the Northwest Territories, the Lifesaving Society Alberta and Northwest Territories Branch created the Northwest Territories Drowning Report - 2017 Edition, as well as two Infographics related to the Alberta and Northwest Territories Drowning Reports.

National Drowning Prevention Week - 2018
The dates have been announced. NDPW 2018 will be July 15-21, 2018. Please mark your calendars so you can start planning!
National Drowning Prevention Week - 2017
Many community activations occurred across Alberta and the Northwest Territories in support of National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) which was July 16-22, 2017.  We would like to sincerely thank all of our affiliates and facilities for your support in promoting NDPW.  Here are some photos from The City of Red Deer who were also celebrating Canada's 150th birthday!


Auburn Bay Safety Rangers and Mini Lifejacket Loaner Stations
A huge shout out to Auburn Bay Residents Association in Calgary has been hard at work this season delivering Water Smart public education to children and youth in their community through a free safety ranger program.  They have also supplemented their main lifejacket loaner station with several mini beachfront lifejacket loaner stations.

2018 Alberta and Northwest Territories Pool Lifesaving Championships and Junior Games
Please mark your calendars for the 2018 Alberta and Northwest Territories Pool Lifesaving Championships and Junior Games which will be held at the Max Bell Regional Aquatic Centre at the University of Lethbridge from April 13-15, 2018.  
Canada's Delegation Team for the 2017 European Tour
The Lifesaving Society of Canada is pleased to announce the members of Canada's Delegation Team for the 2017 European Tour, which will include the German Cup in Warendorf, Germany on November 24-25 and the Orange Cup in Eindhoven, the Netherlands on December 2-3. Canada is attending these championships for a third consecutive year and is using this tour to prepare its new and young athletes for the 2018 World Lifesaving Championships.
Canada's athletes were selected based on performances at sanctioned events held from September 2, 2016 up to the 2017 Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships held June 3-4. The team invitations were issued by the National Selection Committee following a call for applications from athletes across the country.
Congratulations to the five athletes from Alberta who are well represented on Canada's Delegation Team!
The Representative Team athletes formally invited are:

Call for Nominations for Technical Officials for the Lifesaving World Championships Adelaide 2018
The ILS Sport Commission is now seeking nominations from all Technical Officials who wish to be considered for appointment to officiate at the  Lifesaving World Championships - Adelaide 2018 , to be held in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia from 15th November to 2nd December, 2018.
When a nominee submits their form they will receive an automatic email in response to confirm that their nomination has been received.  The closing date for any nomination is 31st August 2017. Please note that no late applications will be considered.
