Lord, let us see Your kindness, and grant us Your salvation.

Mary

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven, before her body could begin to decay - a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time.

Things to remember:

*The Assumption not only tells us what God did for Mary, but also what God will do for all of us.

*Mary's Assumption is a reminder that death is not the end for any of us, and it provides a vision of what God offers us: a promise to see God face-to-face.

*The life of Mary teaches us how to be disciples; her assumption teaches us what lies ahead for disciples of Jesus Christ.

Mass will be celebrated at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, a holy day of obligation, Friday, August 15, 2014.

On Being a Good Steward

Anne Lincoln

Originally from New York, Anne Lincoln has called the Peach State home since 2009. That's when she moved to Columbus, where she has taught Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Ethics and English at Virginia College, and served as a substitute teacher at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School.

"I met Fr. Scott Winchel (former St. Anne Catholic Church parochial vicar) in 2009, when he encouraged me to join St. Anne Parish, where I have felt at home ever since," Anne says. In addition to leading this year's Vacation Bible School program, Anne sings in the 12:30 p.m. Sunday Mass Choir. "Our choir group is very close," she notes.

"Being a good steward means answering the call, which I have done by working with truly generous volunteers at St. Anne Church," says Anne, who adds she was repaid tenfold in the friendships she made during Vacation Bible School.

This unique program, which meets in Visitation Hall, is designed to help men better understand themselves, their wives and marriages, as well as their role as authentic leaders in their home and at work. It's all about a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, who wants to take you where you are in your life, wherever it may be, and take you further.

Register for the fall semester of That Man Is You! after all Masses August 16 & 17, 23 & 24, and 30 & 31. For more details, email That Man Is You! Ministry Coordinator Brian Sillitto.
