Hilary Aurand, Gallery Director, is hosting an exhibit in collaboration with 78th Street Studios neighbor, William Scheele of Kokoon Arts Gallery. The exhibit features the works of Charles R. Knight (1874- 1953), famous for his ground-breaking depictions of prehistoric animals and wildlife in general. Millions of people are exposed annually to this artist's works in major institutions around the world including the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. REDHOT features the bold canvases of James Johnson, a first-generation Abstract Expressionist painter who found a home in Northeast Ohio in the 1950s. The authenticity of his work is derived from his training at the New York School , followed by working with Richard Diebenkorn and Clyfford Still. Later in the East Village he worked alongside Willem De Kooning , Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline, before his tragic death at 37 in a motorcycle accident. More |
