Kent County Public Library is one of the locations on the Maryland Department of Disabilities state-wide traveling disAbility History Tour.  The exhibit  Advocacy: A History of People Speaking Up for Themselves  is on loan from the Museum of disAbility  History and will be on  display at KCPL's Chestertown Branch Tuesday, August 22-Saturday, August 26.  

Join us for a reception and resource fair on Wednesday, August 23 at 5:30pm, followed by a showing of the documentary  Life Animated  at 6:45pm.  All are welcome.

Seeking: Baltimore Orioles Field Ambassador  

KCPL is seeking one Field Ambassador to represent all KCPL summer readers in a special on-field ceremony taking place before the Baltimore Orioles game on Monday, August 21st.  
The Field Ambassador must be:
  • registered for the Build a Better World summer reading game
  • at least 5-years-old 
  • able and willing to walk onto the field alone (parents and siblings are NOT allowed to accompany the ambassador onto the field)
  • able to arrive at Camden Yards by 6pm on Monday, August 21st  
The Field Ambassador will receive 4 tickets to the Monday, August 21st game. Transportation to Baltimore is the responsibility of the family.

On the day of the game, the Field Ambassador will be given a special badge in order to join summer reading representatives from around the state for the pre-game on-field ceremony.

If your child would like to apply for this special experience, please email Natalie Lane, Children and Youth Services Librarian, by 5pm on Thursday, August 3rd.  Include your child's name and age.

All applicants will be included in a raffle drawing and the selected Field Ambassador will be notified by Friday, August 4th.

Try your hand at oyster tonging on a 5ft x 8ft boat that will be installed inside the library!  Learn about the practice of tonging for oysters in the Chesapeake and explore the Little Nippers boat with special guests from the Oyster Recovery Partnership.

During the catalog transition, you will be unable to access your account online. 

When the new catalog goes live, you will be able to log in to your new account using your library card barcode.  The last four digits of the phone number on your account will be your temporary password.  Once you are logged in, you can add a username and change your password.

If you use the "Check Out History" feature in the catalog, this information will not transfer to the new catalog system. To preserve this information, you must log in to your account and download it before August 10th.
