LIBRARY NEWS & PROGRAMS 
Patti's Bench Dedication
Library staff, trustees and family gathered recently for the dedication of a bench gifted to the library in recognition of Director Patti Haar's 27 years of service and pending retirement. The bench was funded by donations from staff, trustees and the Friends of the Patterson Library, and is placed at the entry of the library which was beautifully landscaped by Petersen's Patterson Greenhouses. The plaque summarizes the incredible impact Patti has had on the library and on our community, it reads: In Recognition of Library Director Patti Haar for her inspiration, vision, and leadership from 1991 - 2018. Thank you, Patti, for your years of service to the Patterson Library and community. The search for a new director is now underway and applications are currently being accepted.
Dixieland Band Concert
Thursday July 19 6 PM

The Bottoms Up Dixieland Jazz Band will have you tapping your toes,clapping your hands and singing along to the tunes of 1920's New Orleans. Bring your family, picnic dinner and a chair or blanket and get ready for an incredible night in our beautiful Patterson Library Park.

Inclement weather will move us to the Patterson Rec Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult. See our website for park rules.

Plein Air Event
Wednesday August 22 10 - 5 PM

Artists are invited to bring their easels and supplies and enjoy creating an original piece of art in our beautiful outdoor park at this wonderful Plein Air event. An exhibit featuring the work will follow in the fall. Artists ages 16 and over are welcome to register by visiting our website or calling 845-878-6121 ext. 10. The public is invited to come and watch area artists create their works of art. The rain date for this event is August 24. * Artist please register to participate.

Thursdays In The Park
Starting July 5th 12:30 - 2:30 PM
The games are out! Corn Hole, checkers, and other fun lawn games will be available all summer long, Monday - Friday from 10-5 PM, in our park. While you can enjoy the park any day of the week, starting Thursday,July 5th, we are setting aside time for everyone to get your friends together, have a picnic lunch or just drop by to meet new people and enjoy the sunshine and the outdoors. Artists 16 and over are invited to register for a Plein Air Event and bring their supplies to the Patterson Library Park. The public is invited to watch area artists who have set up their easels in the park to create original works of art.

Teen Self-Defense

Pawling Karate will be coming to show teens basic self-defense techniques. These will help build a greater awareness of self and empower teens both physically and mentally, while reinforcing the need to respect ourselves and others.

Sing, dance, and laugh in this interactive class. A program that provides music, singing, dancing, and movement, using percussion instruments and pretend play.

 This club gives kids a chance to read just because it’s FUN and because they want to share what they read with others. We will enjoy a light brunch and meet outside on nice days!

Kids will move and groove with Zumba Kids . This fun workout will be followed by a snack making session where kids will pick some nutritious foods and make their own high energy snack mix.

 Run, jump, and get messy in this obstacle course relay race. Teams will compete for fun awards, but...Be careful! You’ll have to evade colorful chalk bombs during the race.

Ages 8-12
In this two-day program, kids will learn a full routine of ancient Balinese dance that they will perform on Aug 1. The second half of day one we will be practicing the art of henna too!

Join us for another night of mayhem with a teen idol twist! After one of the guests is found murdered, teens will use clues and cue cards to figure out who the killer is! But, be careful, everyone is a suspect in this night of mystery.
