Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue
Live.  Love.  Rescue.
August 2016
LIVE.  LOVE.  RESCUE.

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.

Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrendered to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieve Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.
Meet Belle:

From Belle's mom and pops:   We are mystified as to how the rescue matched us with our perfect pup child. We got exactly what we would have ordered if we could have ordered her off Amazon. Just exactly perfect for us.

Our Belle is  the joy of our house. Since we are empty nesters she has our undivided attention and devotion. I couldn't imagine before we  adopted her how much warmer and richer our lives are for having our girl. She is sweet, agreeable, loyal, playful, loves us and is always so happy to greet us when we get home from work.

Speaking of greeting us when we get home in the evening. She has developed a new habit this summer. When Glenn or I get home from work in the afternoon Belle thinks she has to oversee the trip to the mail box.  She is our official "go outside and get the mail supervisor."  All other times she knows to go outside at the back door when she needs to do her business. But every afternoon now she'll stand at the front door and once we open the door, she'll waddle outside straight to the mailbox. When we've got the mail, she'll finally do her business. All we have to say is, "Let's go get the mail, Belle!" and she's out of her bed and headed to the front door in the fastest waddle she can manage.

I don't know how LSBCR could have found a more perfect bully for us.  That's what she is - perfect!  We are blessed to have her.

Online Auction Benefiting Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue

Bidding will start Thursday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m., CST, and end Sunday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m., CST.

All funds raised through this event will help offset the vet bills we incur while helping Bulldogs in need. So bid HIGH!! Every dollar raised is important to us because we constantly have a number of dogs to treat. In fact, we tend to have more than 40 dogs in our care at any given time. In 2015, our group adopted out 154 Bulldogs to loving homes.

Help us help the Bulldogs by inviting all your friends and family to be part of the fun!

Be sure to check out all 199 items and bid often to ensure you have the winning bid.
This recipe is from the cookbook that is in our auction this weekend.  I make these quite often. They are like puppy crack. Tucker LOVES them as do my two.

Bacon Cheese Muffins

1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup milk (I use 1%)
¼ cup honey or molasses (I use molasses)
3 tablespoons oil
¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
¼ cup cooked bacon (about 6 slices), drained and crumbled.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line cups of a mini-muffin tin with paper cups or spray them with cooking spray. (I use paper cups)

In large bowl, mix together flours, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients. In a small bowl, beat the egg with a fork.  Add milk and honey or molasses, and oil.  Stir together.  Pour wet ingredients into well and fold in, stirring until just combined. Gently stir in cheese and bacon.  Spoon into the mini-muffin pans, filling each about ¾ full. Bake 15 minutes (if using regular muffin tins bake for 25 minutes) or until the tops are brown and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Store in airtight container. Refrigerate any that are left.
I've tasted these, and they are pretty good!
