Minnesota Oncology Physician Named 2015 Top Cancer Doctor by Newsweek magazine

Minnesota Oncology medical oncologist Patrick Flynn, MD, has been named by Newsweek as a 2015 Top Cancer Doctor for the United States. Dr. Flynn treats patients at our Woodbury Clinic and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. The Association of Community Cancer Centers honored him with the David King Community Clinical Scientist Award for his outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to the oncology community.

According to Newsweek, the physician list was created in conjunction with Castle Connolly Medical LTD, the publisher of America's Top Doctors®. The Castle Connolly physician-led research team makes tens of thousands of phone calls each year, talking with leading specialists, chairs of clinical departments and vice presidents of medical affairs, seeking to gather further information regarding the top specialists for most diseases and procedures.

Each year, Castle Connolly receives nearly 100,000 nominations via this process. The list is included in the Newsweek Cancer Issue 2015 dated July 31.

MOCAMOCA to host 16th Annual Ovarian Cancer Walk/Run

The Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA) will mark its 16th year of strides against ovarian cancer at their annual HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian CancerĂ‚ walk and run on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Rosland Park in Edina. MOCA, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to funding ovarian cancer research, also provides support for those affected by the disease and spreads awareness about the symptoms.

HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer is one of the largest ovarian cancer fundraising events in the country, and this year, MOCA is predicting its best turnout yet. Teams ranging from 3 to 100+ people will join forces to fundraise to benefit MOCA's research funding and programs.

More than 3,500 participants - survivors, family, friends and children - are expected to take part in the event. Because there is no test for ovarian cancer, MOCA's research funding is critical to change the course of the disease.

Minnesota Oncology is proud to be a teal-level sponsor of HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer. Learn more.
