Keeping up with Uncle Moishe
By Al Zuckerman

I talked to Uncle Moishe recently. He and my Aunt were getting ready to go out to Montauk Point on Long Island for a long weekend with his brother and his "new" wife of three years. Catching up on family news Unc told me about something that happened between my Cousin Marilyn, who lives in Wellington, Fla., and her youngest son, 18 year old David. Apparently David was playing basketball in the driveway at their house when he lost his contact lens. After a brief search he gave up and went in the house to get something cold to drink and casually mentioned to his Mother that he had lost his contact lens out in the driveway. Well, once Marilyn heard this she immediately went outside to take up the search and after a considerable amount of time found the lens. Going into the living room where David was now sprawled on the couch intently texting, Marilyn held out a finger with the lens at the end of it. With some surprise David asked his Mom how she did that. Unc said that Marilyn explained to him that they weren't looking for the same thing. She said, "David, you were looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150. "

Old Bill's Fun Run donations

While the JHJC graciously accepts donations given through Old Bill's Charitable Match,

this money cannot be used for our General Operating Expenses or Religious Programs (Shabbat, Jewish holidays, etc.) and is restricted to cultural and non-religious programming only. While the JHJC does seek donors for these outreach programs, we are urgently in need of support for Member Programs which are not covered by Old Bill's Fun Run donations. Please consider this if you are planning to give to the JHJC through Old Bill's in lieu of our annual Membership campaign.

This event was a great bridge-building achievement for everyone involved. Our good friends in the Lebanese community participated by entering some truly award-winning hummus.
