This session is being hosted as a pre-conference workshop for the Women's Business Development Center, a certifying agent for the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and hosted in partnership with the Midwest Women's Business Enterprise National Council.

The Importance of Bonding and Rapport

Patients Voices Receives Key Funding
 
Mary Kay O'Connor, founder of PatientsVoices, recently received key funding to help develop a working prototype of her software.  She received $150,000 NSF grant and $100,000 credit from Google.  PatientsVoices' software helps hospitals use data from patient feedback to better improve client experience.

 The Women's Business Center and Women's Capital Connection are partnering up with the Athena League to host an open house reception at our new office space.  Join us for appetizers, cocktails and networking on August 27 from 5:30-7:30pm.  If you haven't visited us since our move in May, now is your chance!  Registration is available online through Athena League's eventbrite page. 


25 Under 25 Nominations Open 

 

Nominations for the 15th annual 25 Under 25 awards are now open.  Companies with fewer than 25 employees operating a for-profit business in the greater Kansas City region are eligible for the award.  Self-nominations are encouraged as well!  Visit Thinking Bigger Business Media to make your nominations online.  Award recipients will be announced in mid-December and honored at the Awards Gala on February 27.

Congress Expands 7(a) Lending Program Limits 

 

Demand for 7(a) loans soared over the last few months, pushing the program to its dollar limit of $18.75 billion.  A recent vote by Congress has allowed the U.S. Small Business Administration to continue to operate the program with a new lending cap of $23.5 billion.  This expansions allows small business owners the opportunity to access much needed capital to start and grow their businesses.
