Reach-Connect-Grow-Serve

We see a welcoming family, living the Gospel of Grace. We see a family where people can safely seek, question, and be revived.  We see a family energized by the Spirit alive in our midst.
About Open Spaces

1 Samuel 3 tells the story of a young boy working in the temple whom God calls to ministry.  "Samuel, Samuel", God says.  "Here I am ... your servant is listening," is Samuel's response.  What a powerful response?  Taking the time to listen to what God is saying, and what God wants him to do about it!  God will use Samuel in amazing ways to change the course of the Israelites and bring a new leader.  He is a story for future sermons and small group studies.

This practice of listening is an important one; Listening to each other; Listening to God.  It is hard to quiet ourselves long enough to let God speak into the silence so that we may see God's power to change us and our community.

In the next few months, you all are invited to listen for what God is saying to our congregation.  We invite your presence.  We invite your voices, hopes and fears.  We invite your listening ears.  Come and listen to each other and listen to God.  Check them out!

Open Spaces for Listening

As we move into our next year of ministry together, all are invited to a listening workshop lead by Rev. Kristin Nielsen.  Pastor Kristin is the Director of Rostered Leaders at the Greater Milwaukee Synod and is responsible for all pastors and congregations in transition.  She will be sharing with a tool of open questions that will help us listen to one another, our passions, our hopes and our concerns.  This is a tool that they use with congregations who have a new pastor/congregation relationship.  Join us on
Thursday, August 4, 6:30 p.m, location to be determined, for this new way of listening to each other.

Our New President

Dear Congregants,
Happy summer to all of you! We have completed the elections of officers and are pleased to share as follows: Ann Livermore, President; Stacy Juga, Vice President; Rosanne Hatcher-Pientok as Secretary; and Mike Slye, Treasurer. Standing members are Henry Nelson, Donna Jensen, and Maddy DeBoer. We are blessed to have those that are willing to serve and ask you to uplift them in your prayers. We gathered together for the first time to set goals, understand our roles as leaders and begin our work as SALT members. (Spirit Alive Leadership Team)
We are excited to lead Spirit Alive! and help our church family get stronger and grow. Any questions or concerns, contact Ann Livermore at [email protected].

In His service, Ann.

Spirit Alive Property Search

I wish I had an answer for the churches desire to find a new home. To be  very transparent there has been an ongoing effort to satisfy that desire.

For the last 8 years various committees have been formed and organized and have expended great effort in search of that location.  Searches have included land or buildings that a new church could afford and be able to support long term.

Along the way we have run into any number of obstacles trying to satisfy our needs.  The largest obstacle is of course money.  I have listed (to the best of my memory and not necessarily in order) the land and the buildings that have been reviewed.

Please look at our present location with a positive attitude.  The school has adequate space to hold our service, it is air conditioned and heated, the grass is cut and the snow is plowed, the lites work and we do not have to clean the toilet rooms.  All of those items would be ours if we owned the building plus many others to numerous to mention.

I know the God is watching over us and maybe the new Bishop will be the breath of fresh air that we need from the synod to continue our mission.  We are the only mission church in the Milwaukee Synod that has succeded in the past15-20 years I am told.

Respectfully Submitted

Outreach for Hope Family Bike Ride

$25,000 Pledge Launches Family Bike Ride Campaign
Five individuals, seeking to put their faith into action, have pledged $5000 each to this year's Family Bike Ride - and they CHALLENGE other donors to give generously to the Outreach for Hope campaign.  Their gifts - and yours - support ministries in low-income neighborhoods that transform lives and bring hope.

It is easy to register for the 9th Annual Outreach for Hope Family Bike Ride on Saturday, September 10 at St. Bruno parish in Dousman.
Sign-up for the bike ride at: www.ofhbikeride.com, then Share the fun with others by emailing your friends a link to the web site and inviting them to support you or ride with you.  Riders of all ages are invited and encouraged to join.

Brennan's Market of Oconomowoc/Brookfield and Pavement Consulting of Delafield are teaming up to co-sponsor an Action Challenge by donating $25 for each of the first 300 registered riders or virtual registrations!  That's an additional $7,500 for Outreach for Hope toward our goal of $110,000.

Not able to ride a bike?  Join in the support.  Every donation to Outreach for Hope through September 30 will be added to the campaign total.  You can do even more as a Virtual Rider.  Raise funds for Outreach for Hope without a bike.  Whether on a bike or virtual riding, every donation to your web site will trigger an additional $10 gift from Dave and Barb Hammer.

Or
Volunteer to assist on September 10 and be part of the fun.  You can assist with setting up, serving lunch, manning rest stops, cleaning up and more.

To Ride, Virtual Ride, Volunteer, or Support a rider go to www.ofhbikeride.com.
