It's National Health Center Week and WHS is being featured for the impact we have made in Northern California! We are proud to be a non-profit community health center that offers Title X family planning services while providing our clients and the community at large with a new and more empowering perspective on their bodies and health!
Redding Vigil for Orlando
On Thursday, June 16th, 2016 NorCal Outreach Project of Redding sponsored Vigil for Orlando.
Women's Health Specialists was requested by Carrie Diamond, Board Chair of the NorCal Outreach Project, to be one of the sponsors for this event.
It was held at the Sundial Bridge in Redding from 7pm to 8pm. People gathered at the north end of the Sundial Bridge, estimated (600) community members attended.
This vigil was held in solidarity with the communities, families, and victims of the massacre in Orlando, Florida. All the community speakers emphasized healing, hope and compassion as we as a community strive to keep the spirit of PRIDE alive.

Dido Hasper Speculum Kit Giveaway

Women's Health Specialists gave out 224 speculum kits organization-wide in July in honor of our founder and feminist visionary Dido Hasper. Speculums are part of Women's Health Specialists' self help heritage, and each kit comes with a speculum, flashlight, hand mirror, and instructions to help one see their cervix.   Learn more about Dido and self help .
 
All Access

WHS is proud to be part of an amazing  coalition that's coming together on September 10 th to host All Access 2016 - a night of music and comedy that' s all about expanding our access to abortion. All Access will be anchored in Cleveland, with satellite events happening simultaneously in Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, and Philadelphia, as well as local events scattered from coast to coast.
Representing the West Coast, WHS Sacramento will be holding the first ever Abortion Access Hackathon, with hopes of creating tech-savvy, forward-thinking social justice tools that can be used nation and movement-wide.
HIV Peer Education Training

We continue our STI prevention project in Redding that educates and empowers youth to become advocates for their own health and the health of their peers. To get it on the next training, call 530-222-5570 x 202 !

Summer Outreach Fun
In Sacramento, we've had a productive and fun summer of handing out safer sex supplies at Cesar Chavez Park for their summer concert series. If you'd like to join us in the next few weeks at Rancho Cordova Friday Night Concerts at Village Green Park, e-mail [email protected] !

As the kinks of the Affordable Care Act are worked out, many newly insured or uninsured folks are finding themselves slipping through the cracks when it comes to receiving quality healthcare services. At WHS, we take all insurance--or no insurance, with costs based on a sliding scale. You do not need a referral from your primary care provider to come to WHS for your sexual and reproductive health services!
