Welcome!     New Board of Directors
Please welcome the following Board of Directors to the Chamber of Commerce.  They will be filling unexpired terms for the 2015-2016 year.  We appreciate their willingness to serve and look forward to their participation and support of our community.

Towonder Dennis - owner of Adam's Beauty Supply and Towonder's Beauty Shop will be filling the unexpired term of Tibia Williams.
Jeff Greeson - Vice President of Energy Services at Central Georgia EMC 's  will now serve in Alma Abbott's unexpired term.  Alma recently retired from CGEMC.
Tom Joye - will be representing the Farmer's Market and is an artisan.  He is filling the unexpired term of Stephen Soule who was recently transferred to another church congregation out of the county.
Mike Benton - interim County Manager is now serving in the ex-officio position for Jasper County Commission.

Our Community - A Town Hall Meeting
Most county departments, and the city of Monticello, set up displays and had people available to discuss their respective duties at an open house and town hall meeting  held Tuesday at the Visitor's' Center on the Square.   The event was hosted by the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce, and Jim Dove of the Northeast Regional Commission facilit ated the town
hall meeting portion.
Mr. Dove addressed the qu estions to the group assembled, which included County Commission Chairman Gene Trammell and Commissioners Carl Pennamon, Bruce henry, and Doug Luke, as well as Monticello Mayor Bryan Standifer, Mayor Pro-Tem Bobby Jacobs, and Councilwoman Katherine Alexander, and Councilman David Wease.
Civil War Heritage Trails Interpretive Markers Placed In Shady Dale and Hillsboro
The Mayor and City Council of Shady Dale recently held a dedication ceremony for the Georgia Civil War Heritage Trails interpretive marker that was erected in the park next to City Hall in Shady Dale.  The Civil War Heritage Trails initiative began some 15 years ago, and the markers are now in place, with two in Jasper County-this one in Shady Dale and another one in Hillsboro (photo below).

PRESIDENT ATTENDS EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Recently, our President, Pam Mayer attended the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives - Executive Leadership Conference.  The conference is designed to teach Chamber Executives new ways to solve management problems, to motivate people, and to increase their knowledge in order to become more effective in developing their local communities.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...We are currently updating our volunteer roster and need more volunteers to help in the  Visitors' Center.   Volunteers simply visit with the tourists - give directions - answer the phone.  Sign up today.
SPONSORS NEEDED...We still need sponsors for our quarterly First Friday Breakfast for December 4.  The breakfast is from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. at the Visitors' Center. Cost to sponsor the breakfast is $150.00.  You can be a First Friday meeting sponsor for $25.00.
HOSTS NEEDED...We are scheduling our next quarterly Business After Hours and need a host for:  November.
VISITORS' CENTER DISPLAY WINDOW...We are now reserving the front window display for 2016.  Please call and reserve the month you would like to advertise and promote your business.
