Join the fun in North Chelmsford with MacKay's outdoor summer music series.  August concerts are children's performers, scheduled for the 2nd, 9th, and 16th.  We'll move indoors for bad weather, so check the website each week!

Local artist Elaine M. Steinhilber invites you to "Joyous Journey," on display August 4 to August 31st, at the Chelmsford Public Library.  The reception will feature light refreshments and live piano music.

Stack of books The Friends of the Library seek books of all kinds in good condition including recent best sellers, fiction, non-fiction, children's books, paperbacks - as well as audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, maps, and local interest items. Drop-offs for the Friends of the Library book sale take place at the Gym at the rear of the Town Offices Building,  50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford.

Please join us for the official grand opening of the Marjorie Scoboria Greenway, to recognize all of the donors and other contributors w ho made this wonderful park possible. Learn about the various trees, plants, benches, artwork, weathervane, and all the other features the new Greenway has to offer . Light refreshments will be served.  In the meantime, we invite you to stroll through the Marjorie Scoboria Greenway at any time.

Teen Summer Reading 
Keep going with your summer reading!  Not only will you have the chance to win a prize every time you scratch off a ticket, but each ticket also enters you into a raffle for one of five Grand Prizes!

Make It! Club: DIY Infinity Scarf
Welcome to The MIC (Make It! Club), where you'll make and take home an awesome DIY project or snack. This month, gear up for fall by learning to arm knit and make an infinity scarf! No prior knitting experience required. This special MIC is registration only! Grades 4-8 and home school teens welcome!

Thursday, 8/10 at 5pm
Learn how to make miniature meals and compete to see who can create the most delicious-looking mini breakfast, dinner, and dessert! Winners will be selected for all three meals, and for the best overall. Drop in while supplies last. Grades 4-12 and home school students welcome.

Bibliobites Teen Book Group
Wednesday, 8/16 at 12pm 
Join us at the Main Library to discuss Close to Famous by Joan Bauer and make mug cakes! Register and pick up your book at the circulation desk. Please let us know if you have food allergies; we will accommodate you! This event is open to teens entering grades 5 and up. Home schooled teens also welcome!

Join us downstairs in the conference room for snacks and a few episodes of new and popular anime series! (Drop in, ages 12-18) 

Summer Reading is going very well! We've already r eceived over 300 reading logs - almost halfway to our goal of 800 logs (10,000 h ours). Remember, logs are due by Saturday, Sept. 2nd. If we get at least 800 in by then, the Friends of the Library will make a donation to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell. Help us "Build a Better World" by reading as much as you can this summer, kids!

Wednesday Concerts at the MacKay Branch - Evening entertainment for families with young children on the lawn at MacKay. Generously sponsored by the Kurt Kelly Memorial Foundation. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m., and in the event of rain, will be held indoors at the Chelmsford Senior Center.

Thursday, August 3rd, 10:30 a.m.
Massachusetts author/illustrator David Hyde Costello will read his new picture book, Little Pig Saves the Ship, and then teach us how to make simple toy ships from found objects like sticks and leaves. We'll take our boats across the street to Bartlett Park and try them out in the tiny stream there. Ages 6+
 
Thursday, August 10th, 10:30 a.m.
Michael Albert will teach us how to make amazing collage artwork from old cereal boxes! Join us for a morning of creating art from items we normally discard. Ages 6+
 
Thursday, August 17th, 10:30 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m.
Come make your own delicious vanilla ice cream with us! Ages 6+; registration is required and begins August 3 rd - register using our online calendar or by calling the library.
 
Friday, August 18th, 1:00 p.m.
Make ice cream at the MacKay branch! Ages 6+; registration is required and begins August 4.
