Union City, Tenn., July 5, 2017 - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City (BMH-UC) has been named a finalist for the 2017 QUEST Award for High-value Healthcare from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for providing outstanding patient care.
Only 21 hospitals received finalist recognition for achieving top performance in any five of the six areas measured in Premier's QUEST collaborative, including cost and efficiency, evidence-based care, mortality, safety, patient and family engagement and appropriate hospital use.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City was honored during Premier's annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition on June 27, 2017.  Baptist Union City was the only hospital in Tennessee to receive the award.
"Baptist Union City's achievements in QUEST reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver the best care experience to the communities we serve," said Skipper Bondurant, administrator and chief executive officer, BMH-UC.  "We're proud to be named a finalist for the QUEST Award as we continue down our path of improving patient outcomes and community health.  We are also very excited to be the only hospital in Tennessee to receive the QUEST Award for three consecutive years."
All QUEST hospitals submitting data for October 2015-September 2016 were eligible for the QUEST Award.  Top performance thresholds were established at the top quartile of performance from a baseline period in all measures except cost of care, which was based on top tercile of performance.  Top performance methodology for each dimension varied depending on the unique measure calculation and methodology.
"QUEST hospitals have set high standards in clinical excellence nationwide," said Madeleine Biondolillo, MD, vice president of engagement and delivery for Premier Inc.

AT&T Launches Fixed Wireless Internet in
Obion County and other Rural and
Underserved Areas in Tennessee
TROY, TN., July 27, 2017 - AT&T* Fixed Wireless Internet1 is now available for rural and underserved locations in parts of Obion County.
Joined by State Senator John Stevens, State Representatives Andy Holt, Bill Sanderson and other community leaders, AT&T announced that residents in Troy and other areas are included in the initial rural and underserved locations in Tennessee to which AT&T has extended Fixed Wireless Internet as part of its FCC Connect America Fund commitment. As a part of this commitment, we plan to reach over 400,000 locations by the end of 2017, and over 1.1 million locations nationwide by 2020.
"Our residents and business-owners in rural Obion County have made their voices heard, and my colleagues and I are working hard to create an environment where we will see more announcements like this - more announcements that infrastructure is being deployed to extend access to high-speed Internet to families across our community," said State Senator John Stevens.
"For years I have said that high-speed internet is the greatest infrastructure need in the 21st century. More and more, whether you are in urban or rural areas, high-speed connectivity is vital, and I am excited to see this newly available service bringing needed connectivity to our rural communities in Tennessee," said State Representative Andy Holt. "And to be among the first in the nation to have access through this service is a testament to the consistent community efforts to raise this issue."
AT&T plans to reach over 81,000 locations with this technology across Tennessee by 2020, and with this initial offering, Fixed Wireless Internet is available today in parts of rural communities throughout Tennessee.
"It is essential that we continue to work to bring greater access to high-speed Internet to rural Tennesseans, and this announcement today, marks a positive step in that direction," said State Representative Bill Sanderson . "I am glad to see the innovative approach by private industry to help close the remaining connectivity gap."
"The more than 5,700 men and women who work for AT&T and call Tennessee home, are proud to work with our local, state and federal leadership to provide the connectivity that Tennessee's residents and businesses demand," said Chuck Thomas, regional director of external affairs for AT&T Tennessee. "Through this innovative service, we are working to close the connectivity gap in Tennessee."
Our Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers a home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers' homes or businesses. This is an efficient way to deliver high-quality internet to customers in rural and underserved areas.
The 9 states where we have already launched service include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Louisiana. Additional states where we plan to launch this year are Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
We'll provide updates about additional availability in parts of Tennessee, and other states, as we expand Fixed Wireless Internet to more locations.
For more information on Fixed Wireless Internet from AT&T, visit att.com/internet/fixed-wireless.html.
1 I ncludes 160GB monthly data allowance. Req's installation of AT&T outdoor antenna & indoor Residential Gateway. $10/50GB of additional data up to a max of $200/mo.
