The year of the Ancestors
Journey to Burkina Faso with Elder Malidoma
January 10th - 24th, 2018
Join Elder Malidoma
as he journeys to the homeland and returns to his childhood village.
During your time in Burkina Faso, Elder Malidoma will be overseeing all aspects of this journey on your behalf.
He will share with you the healing wisdom and indigenous knowledge & technologies of Africa.
You will be given the opportunity to work with local diviners and local elders.
You will be immersed in the the culture and traditions of the Dagara people:
including but not limited to:
-Working with Kontomblé Stick Diviners
-Participating in Ancestor-based Rituals
-Visiting specific Shrines and participating in Ritual at Elder Malidoma's compound and at the Kontomblé Stick-diviner's compound
-Visiting Sacred Places and participating in Ritual within Nature-
(e.g. Kontomblé Cave)

This journey will be taken as a group.

Private Divination with Elder Malidoma

Experiencing a personal divination with Elder Malidoma is a beautiful, empowering and healing manifestation of Spirit. It is an opportunity to hear direction from the realm of the Ancestors and to connect, more deeply, with what you know "in your bones".
Elder Malidoma utilizes cowry shell divination for his sessions. You will be asked to spread a pile of shells, bones, stones, and other implements on a special "divination cloth". This spread is what Malidoma will read and interpret to bring a message about your life and purpose for being on the planet at this time. The message will also be about finding balance with the Elemental Spirits of Earth, Water, Fire, Nature and Mineral.

The free introductory webinar will situate gift and purpose within cosmology and mythology with a mind to capture its concise definition to help everyone including those who already have an idea of their gift, but are not sure; as well as those who have no clue at all.
At the first official web class, we will dissect the notion of Gift within our existential state with a mind to examine the existence of various branches of it. We will lay out the tools with which to identify them. But more importantly, we will stress the danger of living outside of the Gift as well as identify the benefit of living with it.
At the second web class we will address the meaning of Purpose and the life events that inform it. We will define Purpose in relation to gift and steer your imagination toward becoming confident with it.
The third web class will focus on the interconnection between Gift and Purpose with a mind to highlight the ways in which the one informs the other. Knowing your Gift clarifies your Purpose; not always the other way around.
Once you know your gift and purpose, then the challenges of implementation become an unavoidable focus. This will be the topic of
web class number four.The art of dealing with obstacles and adversity while sharpening your style of delivery is a must.
During the fifth and final web class, we will expand on the choreography of the gift with a better look at the destination of it. This will bring our focus on to community as the principal target recipient and the very reason why we come into this world with a gift.

During this 4-Day ritual intensive, men will join together in brotherhood to journey into and through ancient indigenous Dagara wisdom- remembering that we are, each of us, going somewhere purposeful in life. Through the healing interaction of ritual with men in community~ there will be an opportunity to open ourselves to the release and reconciliation of those thoughts, emotions, issues, obstacles and energies- that have created a numbness, tension, or paralysis for us. Through this process, we will invite and allow the life force and strength of our Purpose and Gift to, once again, flow through us- unobstructed.

on our chosen path,
let us remember- and experience together- that we do not walk alone.
As we remember and embody the innate power that lies within us, let us continue to receive support from both this world and the Otherworld as we deepen the embodiment of our Purpose & Gift and move forward.

~Fire Ritual~
"The way to move to a productive understanding of and relationship with fire is through ritual, where fire is experienced not as a combustive fire, but as a warm, comforting, and loving fire connecting us to the ancestors in the Other World. At the core of the fire ritual is the indigenous belief that each person is born with a purpose, and that this purpose was presented to the council of the ancestors in the Spirit World for approval prior to each person's journey to Earth. We come into the world in order to bring to completion that very plan which, as we are born into this side of reality, became our reason for human life. In order to fulfill our purpose, we need the driving force of fire, just as a vehicle needs fuel to reach its destination.
Two things here are at work. We must remember what we came here to do, and we must have a community that knows and remembers our purpose and supports it fully. We do not want a community that tells us what it thinks we should do, but a community that unconditionally provides for us in a manner that allows us to accept our responsibilities and realize the life of our purpose." -Malidoma Somé

5-Day Intensive: Annual Community Grief Ritual
Orlando, Florida
November 1-5, 2017
"We are very excited at the idea that you are considering joining us for this event. For three days we will be in ritual during the night just the way it is done in Africa, and processing during the day. This is an attempt to go as deep down as possible and, in the process, peal as many layers of grief as possible. The usual way has mostly only been a one night shot in which people were expected to dump as much grief as possible. But most people only succeeded in scratching a layer or two. In a culture where grief is not common regular practice, some people returned home to feel like they have just begun. We are implementing a new format to resolve this issue and to prevent the unexpected swelling up of grief at a time when they are back to their routine."

Kontomblé Initiation & Divination

Connecting with the Kontomblé engages us in an ongoing conversation with the Other World. Because these beings are constantly reaching out to us, it is normal to respond; the channel is a two-way road complete with a steady traffic of communication. An active contribution and participation to this two-way road provides us with clarity and comfort in what these Kontomblé people want from us, and allows us to tell them what we need from them.
To do so, we will build and activate their shrine.
Because they need an earthly form to enter into, we must first give it to them in the form and shape they like. We will then spend the night in conversation, a dialogue on wisdom and on inquiries into specific issues that pertain to our lives as healers, and on ways to implement health and abundance.
See this as a confluence that merges this world to the other and celebrates continuity. We will learn how to lend our vocal selves to the other world and how to stay out of the way for them to speak to us and through us; to speak in us and with us. We must be the vessels they need to guide us through.
