Indiana Chapter Supporter receives national "One Mission Award"

The National LFA One Mission Awards recognizes volunteers from our Chapter Network for their commitment to solving the cruel mystery of lupus with excellence, integrity and compassion.

The award goes to Steve Evans who has been a tireless advocate and has motivated other donors and volunteers through his work with the Indiana and Georgia Chapters.

Three years ago, Steve's daughter Shea, a 19 year old Sophomore at Indiana University student, was diagnosed with lupus. Shea asked her dad to help make a difference by raising funds for the lupus Walk and that is when her father sprang into action.

Since 2011, Steve, his wife, Lisa, and Shea Evans have raised more than any other family and team for the Indiana Chapter and Georgia Chapter Walks - a grand total of $250,000 to support programs of research, education, support, and advocacy. Congratulations to Steve and the entire Evans family in receiving this honor from the national Lupus Foundation of America.

We here at the Indiana Chapter sincerely appreciate your dedication and support!

Can I Blame Lupus?

Most people living with lupus are also living with the unanswered question: "Is the symptom I'm experiencing connected somehow to the disease?" Because lupus may manifest itself in a variety of ways, it is often hard to tell just what is-or isn't-a symptom of lupus, its treatment or something else. In this article, learn how to deal with confusing complications and concerns due to your lupus. READ MORE

Approximately two-thirds of people with lupus will develop some type of skin disease, called cutaneous lupus erythematosus. Skin disease in lupus can cause rashes or sores (lesions), most of which will appear on sun-exposed areas such as the face, ears, neck, arms, and legs. Lupus skin disease can occur in one of three forms: chronic cutaneous (discoid) lupus, subacute cutaneous lupus, and acute cutaneous lupus. To read more click here.
