Missions Team

The annual Low Country Boil Missions Fundraiser will be held October 5.  This year's event will feature our usual menu choices of the low country boil or barbecue and 'fixins'.  Instead of a silent auction, we will have a live auction featuring our very own Bill Kennedy as auctioneer.  We are asking that each Sunday school class donate one or more themed basket filled with items relative to the theme you choose.   For example, a "Tea Time" basket might include a teapot, cups, tea bags or loose tea and an infuser with cups.  A Christmas basket  could include ornaments, cards, seasonal teas, or anything else related to the theme.  Use your imagination!  Each basket should include a list of items included and the value of each item.  We would like to have a wide price range with some lower and medium cost baskets.  This will make it easier for all to participate.   Help us make this a fun and lively event

 TUMC WORK DAY

Flying Solos

The group will meet on Thursday, August 17th at noon in Wesley Hall.  The host  group asks that each member bring their own lunch; beverages and dessert will  be provided.  After we eat, we will visit while we play a variety of games.  Bring your games to share.   For information,   Call Carolyn Alexander (893-0439) e-mail  alexander825@epbfi.com

-The church kitchen committee has a very important request to make.  As of July 31st, there is an over abundance of the plastic shopping bags that people are bringing to the church and there is not enough storage space to keep this huge amount.  So from 7-31-17,  you are requested to not bring any more of these bags to the church at all  because they cannot be used.  When the time comes that the church needs more, a written notice will come out.  Instead of discarding what you bring, you are urged to recycle them to create less clutter in the landfill.  Thank you.

 PRESCHOOL NEWS

     During the month of July, TUMC Preschool has been busy!  All the preschool/children’s Sunday School classrooms have been undergoing a DEEP CLEANING; the rugs have been shampooed and the floors washed & waxed. A special THANK YOU to the following people who have worked hard to make our rooms look so beautiful: Marta, who goes above & beyond helping the preschool maintain its beauty; Ken Raymond, for all his help with “sprucing-up” our classrooms by painting and fixing items in the rooms;
Bill & Ken Neblette, for refinishing the “Welcome Tables”
outside of each classroom; Jody Anderson, for her assistance in mending/washing dress-up clothes; and to Mary Wooden & Beverly Peterson, for volunteering their time to help us sort/arrange classroom materials. You all are so awesome! THANK YOU!

      In addition to preparing our rooms for our children, we wanted to let you know about our wonderful staff of Tyner UMC Preschool. All teachers have been hired; we have 10 teachers total: 8 preschool teachers, 1 music teacher, and 1 Spanish teacher. We feel this year is going to be an amazing year for our preschool. The teachers have been anxiously waiting to come fix their rooms and many have been coming to help move furniture in and out so that the rooms could be cleaned. We hope all furniture will be back in the rooms by the end of July so that teachers can have their rooms ready by August 10th.Please come by and check out the preschool rooms in August! For those of you on Facebook, follow us on our Facebook page at _Tyner UMC Preschool_. Be looking for more news about our wonderful preschool teachers in next month’s newsletter!  Tonya & April

We, at Tyner UMC, are thankful to God for bringing Josh to us.  We are excited to see what the future holds for our youth and its ministry.  Continue praying for our youth and Josh as he begins his journey with us!
