Spotlight:  InterChange Group joining the Mill Place Commerce Park family

On January 11th, Augusta County officially welcomed InterChange Group to Mill Place Commerce Park. Building a 108,000 square-foot facility and investing over $6 million, InterChange's facility will serve as an expanded, new home for manufacturing-company Sumitomo Drive Technologies and will also have additional space for future InterChange customers.

The announcement received great media coverage.
InterChange Group delivers supply chain management for the Mid-Atlantic providing services from warehousing to repackaging to transportation. While the company offers complete storage and transport options for businesses, InterChange also serves as a developer. With a building portfolio of nearly 1.2 million square-feet and over 500 acres of prime industrial/commercial land, Interchange has available buildings and land sites throughout Virginia and the Valley including South Oak Lane Warehouse in Lyndhurst.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies, manufacturer of large industrial gearboxes as described here, is owned by Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI), one of the largest manufacturers of machinery in Japan. With future expansion on the horizon for Sumitomo's Verona-located facility, the company worked with InterChange to develop a plan for constructing a building in which the manufacturer could grow.

A&J Development and Excavation will prepare the site and building construction is expected to begin in March by Harman Construction. Complete construction of the new facility is anticipated by the end of 2017.
