The attorneys of Gertsburg Law have a comprehensive understanding of the countless legal issues facing businesses on a daily basis. In order to share our knowledge with the community, we publish weekly blog articles that explain and elaborate on issues relevant to business owners. Here are some of the articles available on our blog this month:

It is hard to know where to start when you sit down to talk with your aging parents about their plans or prepare for a visit to the attorney. GLF's Meg Pauken has years of experience supporting families through the process and has used this experience to create an Elder Planning Checklist that can help guide your conversation. These conversations can feel awkward, but they are critical. We are here to assist you as you plan for the future, for your parents or yourself. Read more and download the checklist by visiting our blog.

13 Essential Employment Contract Provisions
There are as many types of employment agreements as there are industries. A machinist, a college professor, and a non-profit director will all have unique contracts specific to their vocation. But there are universal provisions off of which each unique contract is built. Things like scope of work, compensation, term and termination are indispensable in any employment agreement because they come into play ten times out of ten. Other provisions like non-competition, works for hire, and confidentiality are protective measures. Still others act as incentives for valuable employees. In this blog, we discuss each type of essential employment contract provision that you should include when hiring.

When, Where, and How to Conduct Employee Workplace Searches
Company searches of employee space and property are sometimes necessary to preserve safety, workplace confidentiality, and other important company policies. Employers often wonder what is fair game for a search if they suspect something is amiss, or if they want to be proactive about policy enforcement. The answer is, inevitably, "it depends." Employers can better protect themselves from claims of violations of privacy with knowledge of a few factors for determining the proper scope of a search, as well as the correct procedures for carrying one out.
