What Autism Looks Like

Overview

The essential features of Autism are impaired development of language and social skills. A severe insistence on sameness and routine is another classic marker.
Sensory processing deficits, including self-stimulatory behavior, are also inherent in
Autism Spectrum Disorders. These can vary greatly from child to child, that is why Autism is a spectrum disorder.

Welcome to the Steinberg Behavior Solutions Newsletter!
Each month features a different topic on behavior and children. This month's topic is Autism. Read on for more on this subject. We look forward to your questions and feedback.
From Sarah, Our Director:
Sarah Pic
We are glad to see you back here again for our second newsletter. This issue is jam packed with everything you ever wanted to know about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. If, somehow, a question still remains, shoot me an email or comment on my blog and I will answer it right away.

This month's newsletter is for Joshua.  Josh is my 28 year old brother with Autism.  Living my life with Josh, and then going on to get my BCBA and work with children with Autism... I have a lot to share in this month's newsletter about Autism and more on my blog.

You will read more inside glimpses into "What are the Puzzle Pieces of Autism", "What does Autism look like?" and you will have an "Autism Survival Guide" to help you with strategies to handle those tough situations at restaurants, at bed time, and at Grandma's.

Words that come from the heart, enter the heart.  That is Autism.  Speak to children from your heart, and their heart will hear.  Speak to their parents from your heart and they will feel understood.  That's Autism Awareness.

Happy Autism Awareness Month.

Sincerely,

Sarah
