J-WISE Updates
Members of the J-WISE committee have been contacting participating organizations to assist them in beginning a process of text study and planning. Then, each organization will select an area of sustainability and implement an approach for improvement in an area such as re-cycling or energy conservation.
A website has been launched and offers ideas for text study and action projects. The committee will be adding to the website throughout the summer.
The committee is continuing its outreach and anticipates adding several more organizations to the J-WISE network. We anticipate holding two city-wide events which will showcase additional ideas and provide a forum for sharing ideas.

2013-2014 Annual School Census
The 2013-2014 school year has ended and CJL has completed its annual census of enrollment in Jewish schools. The data shows a decline in enrollment which continues the pattern of recent years. The census is available for planning for the next school year. We anticipate sharing the 2014-2015 Census later in the year.

The Coalition for Jewish Learning is part of the Create a Jewish Legacy Program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
Create a Jewish Legacy is a program that helps individuals and families create legacy gifts, providing a permanent source of support for the Jewish causes they care about. The program is founded on the principle that all of us, regardless of age, wealth or affiliation, can make an enduring financial impact.
The Jewish Community Foundation of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation is sponsoring this program in partnership with area synagogues, agencies and day schools. Together, we will create an even brighter future for our community.

Jews Who Rock: A Musical History Tour has had its debut and is off and running at the Jewish Museum Milwaukee until August 10. This unique exhibit looks at influential Jews in rock & roll. MORE INFORMATION

Stitching History from the Holocaust tells the story of Hedwig and Paul Strnad of Prague who in 1939 sent a letter to Milwaukee cousin Alvin Strnad pleading for help to come to the United States. They included 8 of Hedwig's dress designs to show that they would be employable here. Despite Alvin's best attempts, Paul and Hedwig were not able to come to this country and they perished in the Holocaust. The Museum has had Hedwig's dresses actually created to honor her legacy and to remember all of the talent lost in the Holocaust. This exhibit runs September 14, 2014 - February 28, 2015.

CSI - Milwaukee
is CJL's Congregational School Initiative. The program includes: classes for teachers, seminars for educational directors, grants, school assessments, curriculum writing, and consultation.
CSI-Milwaukee is a partnership between the Coalition for Jewish Learning, the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, and Congregations Beth Israel Ner Tamid, Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, Emanu-El of Waukesha, Shalom, and Sinai.
