Aviation Commissioner Andolino Named To MASBI Steering Committee

CHICAGO, May 25, 2012 - Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino was named to the Steering Committee for the newly formed Midwest Aviation Sustainable Biofuels Initiative (MASBI), which was announced on Wednesday, May 23. Amy Malick, CDA Chief Sustainability Officer and Deputy Commissioner, was named to the Logistics and Infrastructure Working Group.

 

The Chicago Department of Aviation joined United Airlines, Boeing, Honeywell's UOP and the Clean Energy Trust this week in announcing the MASBI, which will promote the development of and use of more environmentally friendly advanced biofuels in aviation. Read the full press release here.

 

The Steering Committee is made up of the industry leaders who are spearheading this initative. Andolino is widely known in the aviation industry for Chicago airports' commitment to sustainability and for the CDA's efforts to advance airport sustainability and engage the international airport community in sustainable practices. In addition to Andolino, members will include: 

  • Jimmy Samartzis, Managing Director of Global Environmental Affairs and Sustainability, United Airlines, which last year flew the first U.S. commercial biofuel flight and has signed letters of intent to purchase 50 million gallons of biofuel for future flights
  • Billy Glover, Vice President of Environment and Aviation Policy, Boeing, which has encouraged the adoption of sustainability standards for aviation biofuels
  • Amy Francetic, Executive Director, Clean Energy Trust, which is accelerating the development of the Midwest clean energy economy to drive economic growth, spark innovation and advance American energy independence
  • James Rekoske, Vice President and General Manager for Renewable Energy and Chemicals, Honeywell's UOP, which has been leading in sustainable aviation fuels refining technologies with more than 30 successful test and commercial flights.
