Avoiding the Office Cold
Denial is not an option. Winter really is here and with it comes the dreaded OFFICE COLD.
Cold and flu season, at the office, means you need to take extra care to avoid the germs. Following some of our simple suggestions below can help keep you healthy all winter long.
1. Beware of germ hotbeds.
While you probably can't completely avoid the areas noted on our list, you can at least wash or sanitize your hands after contact.
The hotbed list includes:
- Door handles
- The office coffee pot
- Phone receivers
- Shared keyboards
2. Sanitize, Sanitize, Sanitize! Alcohol-based sanitizer can work wonders in helping you avoid sickness this winter. The ones that work the best contain at least 60% alcohol.
3. Clean the equipment. Many offices a cleaning service to take care of garbage, vacuuming, and light dusting, however many times wiping down surfaces is not part of the regular cleaning routine. A simple disinfectant will help reduce the spread of germs when used on buttons, light switches, keyboards, door handles, etc. A spray such as Purell Professional Surface Disinfectant will work beautifully.
These simple steps will help reduce cold and flu outbreaks in the office. Have a healthy winter!
