COMMUNITY SERVICE STORY: PUBLIC & SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP

Grandma Gaye and Grandpa Ron are pictured with a group of happy 3rd graders.

Ron and Gaye Pendleton have been serving with Public & School Partnerships (PSP), volunteering at least once per week at Adams Elementary in Logan, UT for most of the 2016-2017 school year. Earlier this month, while volunteering in their usual 3rd-grade classroom, Ron and Gaye were presented with the Lt. Governor's Volunteer Recognition Certificate by Rodney Pack, PSP's Senior and Community Volunteers Coordinator, Rikki Wheatley-Boxx, PSP's Director, Ms. Sundee Ware, Adams Elementary's Principal, and Katie Hollingsworth, Volunteer Coordinator at Adams Elementary.

Katie had this to say about Ron and Gaye: "They have been adopted into this school, and we call them Grandpa Ron and Grandma Gaye. They have definitely impacted the children here. They spend their time reading to students, bringing projects to work on with the students, and spending time visiting with the students out on the playground. Grandpa Ron has been a mentor to a student in our school who has been struggling. He comes and eats lunch with Ron and has gotten to know him. Ron will bring books that he knows this student will be interested in. I wish that we had more people like Ron and Gaye who could come in and have such an impact on the entire school."
