Shalom Parents,
Happy New Year! While we are hard at work at the Youth and Learning Center providing great learning and experiences for you and your children, one of the best ways you can partner with us in nurturing the learning we seek to provide is by helping foster friendships with your child's peers at Hebrew school. Wouldn't it be great to see your child eager to come to B'nai Jeshurun to learn with their friends?

Perhaps you can arrange a play date with a classmate from Hebrew school, or stay after school ends on Shabbat so your child can play gaga in the pit or join us for Kiddush or lunch with the entire congregation. Join us for a Shabbat dinner, Havdalah, or youth group event, there are so many different ways to connect. Simply by finding time to meet and get together with the families in your child's class, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between your child and his or her peers at B'nai Jeshurun, you can have a lasting impact on your child's Jewish identity.

Shloshim Commemoration
for Paul Koret ( z"l)
Sunday, January 29 * 9 am

Please join us for a special shloshim commemoration of our teacher and good friend, Paul Koret ( z"l). Following the conclusion of services (minyan begins at 8 am), we will share in a special breakfast, formally complete our collective study of the Tanakh in Paul's memory, and share reflections on his life.

Those who are studying in Paul's honor need not prepare anything in advance and you need not to have participated in the study in order to join us for the shloshim.  Please  RSVP to the synagogue office by Wednesday, January 25. We hope to see you there.

Any students attending our Sunday morning program
and wish to attend the Shloshim should join our regularly scheduled classes afterward.

To all students celebrating their
Bar or Bat Mitzvah in 2017!
Sunday, January 29 & February 5
10 am - 11 am

Through a gift from a generous donor, all students celebrating their Bar or Bat Mitzvah in 2017 have the opportunity to receive their own pair of Tefillin following participation in our Tefillin Project.

Our first session we will explore the mitzvah of Tefillin, along with the history and powerful meaning that Tefillin has for Jews today and our second session we will
learn how to lay Tefillin together with all of the associated blessings and customs.

We ask all participants join us on the Thursday morning prior to your Bar or Bat Mitzvah service where you will perform the mitzvah of laying (putting on) Tefillin for the first time.

In order to receive your own set of Tefillin, all students will be asked to commit to coming to morning minyan at B'nai Jeshurun at least 6 times in the year following your Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
Please RSVP to Rabbi Josh to let us know you will be joining us on January 29th.  (If you are interested in participating but unable to make it on January 29, please e-mail to make alternate arrangements).
Thank you to Elliot Azoff for his generous gift enabling every Bar and Bat Mitzvah student at B'nai Jeshurun to have their own set of Tefillin.
