Shalom Parents,

I hope you are enjoying a great summer. Here at B'nai Jeshurun we're looking forward to an exciting year with you and your children.

School will begin with Bet Limmud on Tuesday, September 2nd, and our first Shabbat will be September 6th. Please join us at our Back to School Shabbat lunch on September 6th at noon. Come see old friends, meet new people and enjoy Shabbat together as a community! Please RSVP by August 29th. Our high school (grades 7-12) will begin on Sunday, September 7.

As we approach the start of a new Jewish year at the end of September, we have the opportunity for a fresh start and the beginning of some new great programs and curricular changes which will enhance our school and our community. I will be sending out more details as these programs get closer, but I want to highlight a couple of changes:

First, our 3rd-6th grade students will be learning Hebrew through a new curriculum from Behrman House starting this fall. With this new curriculum all students will work with our Online Learning Center, either in class on Thursday afternoons or from home at some point during the week, to build on the Hebrew they are learning in class. All students and families will be receiving a username and password and we will work with each family in the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashanah to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the online classroom. Working online to reinforce the learning that takes place in the classroom will help our students strengthen their Hebrew, provide more flexibility for our families, and help bring our school into the 21st century!

In our high school, approximately once every six weeks, students will step aside from their weekly curriculum for special highlight programs, where teens from across the community will be invited to join in with B'nai Jeshurun students for unique opportunities, both to hear from people making a difference in our community and to help make a difference in our community. Stay tuned for details!

I value your input to make our school the best place it can be and would love your involvement, helping to strengthen our community and support our school. As I continue to work with our talented faculty and education committee to shape our school moving into the future, we will continue to send updates and information about new programs that you can take advantage of in the quickly approaching school year. I look forward to a wonderful year with you!

T'KIAH GEDOLAH
Calling all Singers!

Cantor Shifman is looking for all interested students who sing! Our Synagogue wants to show everyone the talented members we have.

The Zamir Choir is open to all students in grades 2 - 7. The group rehearses each Tuesday afternoon from 5:15-5:45 p.m. and participates in Birthday Shabbat the first Friday evening of every month. In addition, Zamir performs on Rosh Hashanah and outside the synagogue at such venues as Beachwood Place, Legacy Village, Tower City and area nursing homes.

Again this year, Zamir will be under the direction of the talented Sheri Gross, Director of Playmakers Youth Theater.

Please contact Julie Berman at 216-831-6555, Ext. 102 to join Zamir this year.
