B'nai Mitzvah Program
All children who will become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah between January and December 2016- and their parents - are being asked to please join us for a special Mitzvah Program on four Sunday mornings, October 26, December 7, January 25 and February 22 from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 noon at the synagogue.
At the first session (October 26), we will engage in a brief study and discussion on the meaning of the word Mitzvah in "Bar/Bat Mitzvah", share in a "Torah-roll," and learn about your child's Torah and Haftorah portions.
The second session (December 7) will continue the theme of Torah and Prayer with an exploration of contemporary questions Jews ask. At this session, we will also make Torah yad's which the children can use at their own Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
The third session (January 25) will be devoted to an interactive exploration of Tzedakah and Gemilut Hasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness) and begin to plan for their mitzvah project. You will learn about organizations your child may choose to support in connection with their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We will also discuss our B'Mitzvotav program, in which B'nai Mitzvah choose to fulfill 13 mitzvot reflecting different areas of Jewish belief, values and practice in preparation for their simcha.
The final session (February 22) will be devoted to the exploration of G-d and Spirituality.
We look forward to seeing you and your child at the first session, Sunday, October 26, as we unroll the complete Torah and explore your child's portion. Please RSVP to Barbara Rosenfeld to indicate your attendance.
