NEW VIDEO THIS WEEK:

Manipulated Filigree Bracelet!  I showed you a photo of one I made some time ago, last week.....

Now I will show you how to do it!

Here are the two bracelets I worked on in the photo:



All you need are three pieces, four inches of chain, a clasp, some jumps, pliers and a jumpie tool.

I did the patina by using my microtorch over the raw brass and then heavily adding embossing ink....and then on the top one, cappucino PERFECT PEARLS.....on the bottom one, HEIRLOOM GOLD.

I also dusted both with a bit of bronze to build the color up.

When dry, I took them outside and did a heavy spray lacquering of matte spray varnish.   This made everything run just a tiny bit which in this case was a really good thing as it 'meshed' the color in a gorgeous way.  Looks like our old choxie finish and our old Russian Goldplate!

And that finish is on there TO STAY.

I'll have a video this FRIDAY to show you more about how I applied the color.

I just wanted to take a minute and thank my girls Judy Jones King, Marcia Tuzzolino, Irene Hoffman and Jann Tague for their efforts to dig in, encourage and make our new events, Work Table Wednesday and Finished Up Friday, the successes they have become.   

Because of their own examples and promotion, many have decided to follow suit and GET BUSY, and GET THE WORK DONE.  Some who had become discouraged or had some other interruption in their creative process have found new impetus and are becoming quite prolific again, making many pieces of jewelry to share every week.

 

Why do we make jewelry?   Because it's a PASSION....an OUTLET....EXPRESSION OF FEELING.    Instead of putting paint on canvas, our art is something someone can wear.   The validation received when someone pays hard-won money for something you have made is like no other.   Always challenge yourself and strive to be more inventive and more determined to show your JOY with each new piece you make.
