With a groundbreaking ceremony 40 years in the making as the backdrop, Rutgers University announced a game-changing partnership with the State's largest health care system that will inject significant support for construction of a new athletics facility and a new sports medicine program partnered with RWJBarnabas Health. The health care system is investing $18 million in Rutgers Athletics, whose new facility will be called the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center at Rutgers University. This day was possible only through Rutgers' important relationships with RWJBarnabas Health; alumni; Senators Ray Lesniak RC71, Tom Kean, Jr, and Patrick Diegnan, as well as Assemblymen John Wisniewski RC84 and Joseph Egan; and, the State Economic Development Authority, which is expected to approve the use of a $25 million tax credit to support construction pending endorsement from Piscataway Township.
