BALLAD OF GENESIS AND LADY JAYE

Winner! Berlin International Film Festival - Best Documentary

An intimate, affecting portrait of the life and work of ground-breaking performance artist and music pioneer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV) and his other half and collaborator, Lady Jaye, this Berlin Film Festival Best Documentary winner centers around the daring sexual transformations the pair underwent for their "Pandrogyne" project. Meeting and falling deeply in love in 1993, the couple decided undergo cosmetic surgery to take their love and performance art to the next level by shedding individual identities and creating a new entity that represents them both together.

DAMSELS IN DISTRESS

Premiering at the Toronto and Venice Film Festivals, director Whit Stillman's sharp-edged comedy is his first film in 13 years. Like his earlier hits METROPOLITAN, BARCELONA, and THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO, the film focuses on privileged young adults bonded by their sense of entitlement. Greta Gerwig is hilarious as a painfully earnest student who helps run the campus Suicide Prevention Center, helping severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers at a bleak East Coast university.

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI

The feature film debut of director David Gelb, JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI is a thoughtful and elegant meditation on work, family, and the art of perfection, chronicling sushi master Jiro Ono's unparalleled success in the culinary world. For most of his life, 85 year old Jiro has been mastering the art of making sushi, but even at his age he sees himself still striving for perfection. At the heart of this story is Jiro's relationship with his eldest son Yoshikazu, the worthy heir to Jiro's legacy, who is unable to live up to his full potential in his father's shadow.

PINA (3D)
Oscar Nominee - Best Documentary

In his exhilarating new film, German master Wim Wenders (WINGS OF DESIRE, BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB) captures the incredibly inventive dance world of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch. Wenders had conceived with Bausch a dance film like none seen before, which would take the advantage yet of the newest technology to put the viewer deep inside Bausch's playful, thrillingly unpredictable pieces. After her untimely death in 2009, Wenders continued with the project, turning it into the most exciting tribute he could imagine. Sensual and visually stunning, PINA powerfully renders the beauty and sheer physicality of the dances and dancers of Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal ensemble.

CASA DE MI PADRE

Will Ferrell makes his Spanish-language debut in CASA DE ME PADRE, a riotous homage to telenovelas. Armando Alvarez (Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. Just as the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando's younger brother, international businessman Raul (Diego Luna, Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN), pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for his brother's fiance, and Raul's business dealings turn out to be less than legit, they find themselves in a war with Mexico's most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal, THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES).
