Hawaii Democrats FOUGHT
AGAINST Republican Effort
to Declare Homelessness
an EMERGENCY in 2008

Aloha Republicans:

YOU WON'T SEE THIS VIDEO ON TV, IN THE NEWSPAPER, OR ONLINE AT NEWS WEBSITES:
SEVEN YEARS AGO, DEMOCRATS LED BY KIRK CALDWELL PREVENTED REPUBLICANS FROM DECLARING HOMELESSNESS AN EMERGENCY.  Instead, Democrats chose to let the problem get worse and worse.

Imagine how much better things would be today, seven years later, if Democrats didn't turn a blind eye to the problem back in 2008?  That's right, for the past seven years, Democrats fought tooth and nail to STOP homelessness from being officially declared an emergency.

Here's a short must-see-video from the Hawaii Republican Assembly (HIRA) which lays out the difference between the bureaucratic 'paperwork solutions' of Hawaii Democrats versus the action-oriented, no-excuses approach of Hawaii Republicans.

At the time, Republican Lingle was governor and Kirk Caldwell was majority leader in the State House.  Her "abuse" according to Caldwell was having the nerve to move quickly to build homeless shelters, "not once but twice". Despite all the evidence of the growing problem all around him, a visibly irritated and impatient Caldwell led the fight with his fellow Democrats in 2008 to PASS A LAW to prevent homelessness from being declared an emergency in Hawaii.  As you watch, think about how much better things would be today if we DID treat homelessness like an emergency SEVEN YEARS AGO instead of waiting until today.

You won't see this video in the local news.  Hawaii News Now, KITV, KHON, Star-Advertiser, and Civil Beat are all in bed with the ruling Democrats.  And the local news media will protect Democrats from letting the public see that Democrats went out of their way to let homelessness get worse by pretending it wasn't an emergency.  Instead, the local media are trying to make heroes out of Caldwell and Governor Ige for finally realizing that homelessness is an emergency in Hawaii; the #1 state in the union for homelessness per capita.

HIRA is telling you this because party leaders at the Hawaii GOP refuse to lead the fight against Democrats and their idiotic and failed policies.  Join HIRA on Facebook today and join the conversation about changing Hawaii for the better.
