The 45th Annual Banquet of Champions was the official Induction ceremony for the Class of 2013. Thank you to over 900 guests who attended to support the Inductees and the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Since 1995, the Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Award have honoured two of BC's top graduating high school athletes. Awarded to one male and one female student, the two scholarships are intended to aid in the pursuit of future post-secondary academic and athletic goals.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame welcomed the newest class of 2013 Inductees and their families to the Hall of Champions for the official Honoured Member plaque unveiling ceremony. Thank you to Emcees and Honoured Members Gareth Rees and Tom Larscheid for leading the ceremonies.
A big thank you to SierraSil for generously sponsoring this special, intimate event where the Hall's Honoured Members officially welcome the newest class. After the ceremony there are 344 individuals and 56 teams celebrated in the Hall of Champions.

Pat Quinn Night at the Vancouver Giants
Thank you to the Vancouver Giants for providing the ideal opportunity for the BC Sports Hall of Fame to publically recognize Pat Quinn for his induction to the Hall. Chair Al Tynan and Honoured Member Jim Robson presented Pat with his official Induction plaque on ice during the pre-game ceremony on October 18th, 2013 game.

Deloitte Impact Day
The BC Sports Hall of Fame was fortunate to have a great team from Deloitte Canada lead by BC Sports Hall of Fame Trustee John Ormiston, who volunteered their time on Deloitte Impact Day at our facility. The team worked tirelessly cleaning the Hall to ensure our visitors have a first class experience. Thank you Deloitte Canada for contributing to the community!

Board of Trustees Update
Since 1966 the BC Sports Hall of Fame has greatly benefited from dedicated volunteers who have committed to guide and support our organization in the role of Board of Trustee. At the Annual General Meeting held on September 25, 2013 the 2013-2014 new Board of Trustees were elected.
Alan Tynan was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees succeeding Gareth Rees, who served as Chair for the previous two years (2011/2013). Executive Director Allison Mailer shares, "I look forward to working with Alan and all the members of the Board of Trustees to support our vision of Honouring the Past and Inspiring the Future. A key priority for our organization is to increase participation in our Hero In You Youth Education Programs and to have a stronger presence in the communities of British Columbia; the Board of Trustees will play a key role in the success of these initiatives."

The Sochi Games Experience
Are you ready for the upcoming 2014 Winter Games this February? The BC Sports Hall of Fame is excited to offer our new "Sochi Games Experience" tour to schools and community groups.
During each two hour field trip at the hall, students will:
- Learn from the stories of Canadian Olympians and Paralympians like Ma�lle Ricker, Josh Dueck, Dominic Larocque and more! Experience each athlete's journey and the obstacles they overcame to become Canada's best.
- Relive the excitement of Games in our Vancouver 2010 Gallery. Stand on a real medal ceremonies podium, and get up-close to a set of real Olympic and Paralympic medals on display!
- Play in our Participation Zone where they can run, jump, throw and climb.
- Complete a Winter Games themed scavenger hunt. ESL versions available!

Please join us on congratulating our Curator and Facility Director, Jason Beck on reaching a major milestone with our organization. Jason has been with the BC Sports Hall of Fame for 10 years! Here is a brief look at Jason's first 10 years with the Hall:
In November 2003 while attending the University College of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, Jason began a six-month practicum at the BC Sports Hall of Fame creating an organizational guide for the Hall's archival collection. At the practicum's conclusion he was hired part-time as a curatorial assistant for the summer, a position he maintained for the next two years while completing his B.A. in History at Simon Fraser University. Over time Jason's roles broadened to include work with the artifact collection and creating museum displays, as well as research and writing. Upon graduation in 2006, he was hired as the BC Sports Hall of Fame's full-time curator, responsible for managing the Hall's enormous artifact and archival collections. A sports nut since a young boy and a competitive soccer player, Jason remains passionate about sharing with visitors BC sports stories of all kinds-the great, the weird, the tragic, the unknown-using items from the Hall of Fame's remarkable collection.
