Recognized as Ahead of the Curve in "Family-Centered" Work

On 12/ 10th, BCNC hosted an event to share how we use a "Family-Centered" approach to deliver services. Rosann Tung, Director of Research and Policy at Brown University's Annenberg Institute for School Reform, shared, "BCNC is ahead of the curve in its Family-Centered Approach. Your family programming aligns well with several nationally recognized models of family engagement and empowerment, and in fact, has pre-dated them." Click here to check out Ms. Tung's presentation. Executive Director, Giles Li, explains "putting families first" is not only a priority, but it is what distinguishes BCNC from other social service providers.

Entertainment at HPEP Kick-Off Celebration
Replicating Parent Programs in Haitian Community

On December 18th, over 75 parents, family members, teachers, and community leaders gathered for a kick-off celebration of the Haitian Parent Engagement Project (HPEP). HPEP builds on BCNC's parent engagement model by replicating services and engaging Haitian immigrant parents in their children's education. BCNC is partnering with Mattahunt Elementary School, Mattahunt Community Center, English for New Bostonians, and ABCD Mattapan Family Service Center. At the event, guests shared their visions for their school and neighborhood.  Click here to see photos from the event!

Volunteer Spotlight: State Street

Big thanks to our longstanding partner, State Street, for volunteering at BCNC's Family Child Care Holiday Party! As they have done the past four years, the State Street Asian Professionals Alliance collected toys at their workplace, delivered toys to children in our program, served food, and assisted with activities at the party. Click here to see photos. Thank you State Street for making the holidays special for families in our community!
