BCOM & The Military: A Solid Bond

As BCOM prepares to start its second year of classes, the bond between the school and the military continues to grow. Former and current service members are discovering just how veteran-friendly BCOM is, while more and more students struggling to pay for their medical education are enlisting. 

Dr. Lara Scheherazade Milane's Nanomedicine Textbook to be Released on July 19
A founding faculty member in BCOM's Biomedical Sciences Department, Dr. Milane co-edited and served as a contributing author for the textbook: Nanomedicine for Inflammatory Disease. BCOM's Dr. Michael Woods is also a contributing author.
The Career Changer: Meet BCOM Student Megan McCord
In 2010, Megan McCord was working as a hairstylist when a community college professor encouraged her to pursue her aptitude for science. Now, as a second year, medical student, she says, "It's never too late to start a new career you're passionate about."

BCOM Faculty & Staff to Present at Advancing Tribal Healthcare Conference in Santa Fe
Eight BCOM team members will present at the ATH Conference on Saturday, July 15 which aims to strengthen healthcare in Tribal 638 and Indian Health Services (IHS) facilities.

Burrell Student Works on NMSU Zika Mosquito Mapping Project
Carlos Yeelot, a second year medical student, was featured by the NMSU News Center  for helping NMSU researchers map Zika mosquitos across Southern New Mexico.

Andrew Ortega Named Recipient of the
Amy & John L. Hummer Scholarship

The scholarship was established by the Hummers in 2017 in honor of John’s father, Dr. Lloyd M. Hummer, MD. The Southwest Foundation for Osteopathic Education and Research scholarship committee unanimously selected Ortega based on his academic excellence and his commitment to serving the Southwest region of the United States.
