“Paso Del Norte” Scholarship

The Hunt Family Foundation predominantly supports charitable initiatives in the Paso Del Norte region. Applicants for the award must have graduated from a high school in Dona Ana County, El Paso County, or Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. They must also submit an essay explaining the healthcare issues specific to the region and how they intend to give back to the region as practicing physicians.

Don Peska, DO
Dr. Peska, an accomplished researcher and lecturer, is a highly respected educator and academic leader within the osteopathic medical school profession. He has been in academia since 1982, prior to which he had a successful private practice in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

Volunteers Train 592 Locals at CPR Event
BCOM represented the state of New Mexico in the National Texas Two-Step CPR annual event which aims to train as many people as possible in hands-only CPR.
 
BCOM Joins Forces with the Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation
Twelve BCOM students joined in the fun at a trivia night fundraiser to help support the LCPS Foundation's new mini-grant program that will award teachers money for classroom supplies.

A student and professor get published in a major osteopathic journal, and students present their research in Florida and Washington DC.

Community Outreach at BCOM
This past month, the FBMS program hosted another successful health fair in downtown Las Cruces, and a group of medical students shared their stories and struggles with at-risk youth.

Medical Student Robyn Marks Earns Patent Pending Status on New Product to Improve Prosthetic Limbs

Currently in her second year of medical school, Marks is using her biomedical engineering background to create prosthetic sleeve liners that could have a significant quality of life impact for amputees.

Proceeds from this second annual event scheduled for March 24 will go to support Mesilla Valley Community of Hope.
