New Construction Training Course at MTC  
Are you interested in starting a career in construction?    The construction trades offer room for career advancement, and excellent wages. Let Marion Technical College (MTC) help you prepare for a rewarding career in this growing local industry. Employers in a variety of construction trades are seeking new employees to fill their work rosters.  The 80-hour, five-week Construction Core course will be held at our new MTC East Campus facility starting in February.
 
This class will feature the CORE curriculum designed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), a nationally recognized by industry and government as the training, assessment, certification and career development standard for construction and maintenance craft professionals. This construction course includes proper usage of construction tools, terminology, drawing/blueprints, safety, and employ-ability  skills. 
 
By completing this course, our students will be prepared to receive their NCCER Blue Card and for greater employment opportunities in one of the faster growing industries in the United States. Students who complete this course and earn their NCCER Blue Card will also receive 6 months credit towards a Construction Apprenticeship Program.  The costs for the course, including NCCER Blue Card certification is only $500.

MTC Spring Business Courses Starting Soon  
The following computer courses are available through Marion Technical College beginning as early as January 16, 2018.  These courses are open to the general public.  We are accepting students for the following classes:  Microsoft Word 2016, QuickBooks 2015, Microsoft Excel 2016, and Beginning Computers.  If you are not available for the courses beginning in January, we also have additional courses slated to begin in March.  If you would like to register for any of these classes, please visit MTC's Student Services office or call 352-671-4134. Boots to Business Reboot
This Introduction to Entrepreneurship course is for Veterans of all eras, service members (including members of the National Guard and Reserve) and their spouses. Basic Supervision  
There is no substitute for well-trained leaders because, as we all know, leadership starts at the top. This course is designed to get new or novice team leaders or supervisors up to speed quickly, or can serve as a refresher for supervisors who haven't been to formal 
training in a while. It offers a unique approach, fostering supervisory skills through the use of role plays and activities, and will help participants gain confidence in their leadership and supervisory roles. This course discusses how to achieve productivity through people, build an effective team, and conduct essential supervisory tasks such as staffing, delegating, motivating and appraising employees. 3rd Annual Youth Career Expo
CareerSource CLM, Marion Public Schools, Public Foundation of Marion County Foundation, MRMA and the CEP are seeking employers interested in participating in the 3rd annual Youth Career  Expo that will be held on Tuesday, February 13th and Wednesday, Feb. 14th at the Cultural Art Center in Ocala.

This event provides the opportunity for business and youth to discuss industry and connect employers to their future workforce - this event helps students learn more specifics about industry and helps cultivate their knowledge and career path that will support their future career goals.
