British Craft Trade Fair

JULY 2018
Visit us on social media to keep up to date with what's happening at BCTF.
Dear Buyer,

Welcome to our July Newsletter,

Wow, has this summer been HOT! And there's more sunshine to look forward to, apparently, although I think that down here in Sussex we could do with a little rain.

Loads going on too in the world of sport, so it's a wonder any work is getting done at all.

The World Cup is in full swing and England have a good chance of winning this time - Hooray!

And wonderful Wimbledon. Even though Andy Murray had to pull out, we still have some great tennis to watch.

Although we have all these distractions, and a long hot summer ahead of us, it's time for us to concentrate on promoting BCTF next April and our Social Media campaign has already started.

BCTF 2019 is looking to bring together a great collection of makers for you to choose from. Sales for next year's fair are strong and we have already signed up some great new talent.

If you want to buy from British makers with great, affordable, unique products, then BCTF is the fair for you!

Next year's dates are the 7th-9th April. We look forward to welcoming you.

Please see below this month's 3 featured artists.

Kind regards

Margeret

Erica Sturla Original Art

Erica creates lively and colourful scenes with three-dimensional clay figures set against hand painted backgrounds. There's a surprising movement and personality that develops when creating each character in polymer clay and this contrasts with the more studied approach of the background painting.

Inspirations are firmly rooted in the simple pleasures of everyday life - the joy is in creating a painting that celebrates people doing familiar things in a new and exciting way. There are countless subjects waiting to be explored, but favourite themes are the seaside, the great outdoors and people busily enjoying themselves there!

She shows her original paintings and limited edition prints in galleries across the UK. Erica's work also appears on an expanding range of products, including greetings cards and gifts.

To see more of Erica's work, visit her on stand 232 at BCTF 2019, or visit her BCTF Online page.

Camilla West

Camilla designs in recycled silver and gold. Except for her upcoming partially cast range, she makes every piece completely by hand.

Camilla's work has a "delicate ruggedness" that invites a closer look. She designs for people who love the detail in nature, the dark crumbly soil, the fascinating irregularity of organic shapes and textures.

Camilla feels it's important to leave traces of her making process, to show the jewellery's handmade character and differentiate it from mass-produced designs; this also echoes the small irregularities in natural, organic patterns.

Three collections are available: "Hedgerow" - imprinted with real wild seedheads; "Textures" - using traditional silversmithing and hammered surfaces; and "Wire Weaving" - including interestingly set rings with beautiful irregular gemstones.

Camilla is happy to work with stockists to create exclusive ranges.

Lauren's Cows

Hello! I'm Lauren and I paint cows!

Together with my Mum, Jude, I have been running my business since 2012.

Everything starts with an original acrylic painting, by me, from which we have developed a product range including fine art giclee prints, high quality greetings cards and tableware.

Working with some of the best British manufacturers and suppliers enables Lauren's Cows to offer top quality products that will not disappoint alongside excellent customer service.

We are delighted to be exhibiting for the first time at BCTF. We are already stocked by several independent shops and galleries throughout the UK and Europe but are very keen to meet new customers.

There's just something about cows! They have such character and personality that they can't help but make you smile!

To see more of Lauren's work, visit her on stand 83 at BCTF 2019, or visit her BCTF Online page.
