Help us Celebrate on October 6
40 Years of Serving the Community!
Go 'Back to the Future' at our 40th Anniversary Party!
This year our Annual Meeting will be even more special than usual in honor of BCTV's founding 40 years ago in 1976. Everyone associated with BCTV from any point in its history is invited, and we're hoping to get some of the original founders to attend. Some classic Brattleboro public access footage from the early '80s has been digitized for this year's montage, which you won't want to miss. Please join us for dinner, dancing, and retro "Back to the Future" style celebrating at 118 Elliot!
BCTV wins national award for Overall Excellence in 2015
Roland Boyden, Cor Trowbridge and Jeff Mastroianni accepted the award for BCTV in Boston at the ACM Conference.
Another reason to celebrate this year is that BCTV was recognized in July as a Hometown Media Award winner of the "Overall Excellence in P.E.G. Access under $300,000" for 2015. (P.E.G. stands for  Public, Government, Education - the kind of programming that we carry on Channels 8 and 10.)  To enter, BCTV submitted a 20-minute video (below) with excerpts from 15 programs produced by staff and volunteers in 2015, along with a description of BCTV's services and reach. We are particularly proud because the award recognizes the entire scope of work produced at BCTV over the year, not just one program. Congrats to BCTV volunteers, staff and board!
"SAFSTOR Matters" Wins 2016 Silver Telly People's Choice Award
Martin Cohn, SAFSTOR MATTERS host, holds the 2015 BCTV Series of the Year and 37th Annual SILVER TELLY awards for his show.
In August, the Telly Awards named Entergy Vermont Yankee as a S ilver People's Choice winner in the 37th Annual Telly Awards for its monthly show produced at BCTV by Martin Cohn, "SAFSTOR MATTERS." With over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, winning a Silver Telly is a big deal. Congratulations to BCTV producer Martin Cohn for his dedication to the show and his outstanding promotional efforts. SAFSTOR MATTERS features experts addressing issues about the decommissioning of Vermont Yankee. Over the course of twelve months, covered topics included: overview of the decommissioning process, emergency management, spent fuel management, and economic impact of plant closure to the community. Watch the series here: http://www.brattleborotv.org/safstor-matters
We are now on the Internet Archive!
BCTV was recently informed of our (unwitting) participation in a project that archives community media YouTube videos to The Internet Archive. So if you want to watch or download our videos without our YouTube channel's features (some of which may be annoying), go to: https://archive.org/details/brattvvt. Videos are being downloaded once a week. The tagging feature is excellent and apparently we already have some viewers there!
Upcoming Board Meeting & Call for Board Members
There will be three open board seats up for election at the Annual Meeting on October 6. Board members meet monthly for 90 minutes, participate on committees, and help plan the Annual Meeting. Note: board members do not make programming decisions. If you are interested in learning more, email [email protected]. The deadline to submit candidate statements to the same email address is Friday, September 30, and you must have joined BCTV as a member by September 6 to be eligible.

The next BCTV Board meeting will be Wednesday, September 21 at 6 PM in Room 305 of the Brattleboro Municipal Center. Meetings are regularly held on the third Wednesday of the month at 6 PM, and are open to the public. Please call 257-0888 to confirm.
