A Message from the Principal....
Parents,

Mrs. Harper and I want to thank you for a great start to our school year! Thank you for ensuring that students arrive and are in their classrooms before the tardy bell (7:45am).

We are excited about this school year and the many opportunities our students will have to grow. Our goal is to provide students with a safe environment conducive to optimal learning. We thank you greatly for your partnership in this goal. Blue Grass students will continue to build the foundations needed to be successful in middle school, high school, college, and beyond. As we continue into this new school year, Mrs. Harper and I want you to know that we are always open to your suggestions, concerns, and feedback.  There exist many communication avenues for you here at Blue Grass Elementary. One very important avenue for communication is your Parent Advisory Council.  This council of parents meets monthly for direct communication with administration.

I look forward to seeing you visit our school and take part in the many volunteering opportunities.

Mr. Cantrill, Principal

A Message from the PTO President...
The PTO welcomes your families back to school! Our PTO Membership Drive is underway. I would like to thank all families & staff who have joined. If you turned in a PTO volunteer form, you will be receiving an email from the chair of that committee soon.

Our PTO General Membership Meeting will be held Monday, September 19th in the BG gym. Our guest speaker is Tracey Matthews. She will be presenting "At Home Learning," particularly using YouTube as a tutor and establishing daily routines in both a.m. & p.m. We will also have an ice cream social following. Students are welcome!

I would like to thank you for your support of the PTO! The Board of Managers is a great group of volunteers who are doing it for one reason....because they love BGE and want the very best for our school. Please thank them for volunteering their time. It is going to be another great year at Blue Grass! I look forward to seeing you at school and at upcoming events!

KNOX COUNTY COUPON BOOKS!!!
The KCS Coupon Book Campaign starts Sept. 8th and runs through Sept. 27th. Our goal this year is to sell 5 books/per student with a total sale of 3,000 coupon books! Please look for information coming home in your child's backpack!

TRANSPORTATION / CAR LINE UPDATE
Thank you to everyone for making the transition to all red tags a smooth one. Let's continue to be patient with one another in the car-line and please adhere to the posted signs about not turning right on red onto Bluegrass Rd. during drop-off and pick-up times. Keep in mind that we are all in line to drop-off and pick-up our children and we all have other places to be. The safety of our children is our #1 priority during these times!
BLUE GRASS CLINIC

The Blue Grass Clinic needs volunteers!!! Our clinic is 100% staffed by volunteers. When your child is sick or injured, they need a place to go for care. Please consider volunteering 2 hours a month or more. Clinic forms are in the front office. THANK YOU!

PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL
Dear Parents of Blue Grass,

Mr. Cantrill is continuing the Parent Advisory Council this year.  The committee members are your representatives and will have direct contact with administration monthly. Blue Grass is an amazing school and we all want to keep it that way. The individuals listed below, along with their contact information, will be your voice. Please direct questions, praise, or suggestions to your appropriate grade level representative. If you have anything regarding the school, whether it is something you love or something you think we can make better, let one of the representatives for your child's grade level know and they will share it at the monthly meetings. This committee was created to discuss the policies and functions of the school in general, not individual problems with teachers or students. If you have concerns like that, please contact your student's teacher or Mr. Cantrill directly.

I still need a Kindergarten representative. Please contact Julie Williams at 2julsrick@att.net if you have a Kindergartener and are interested in joining this committee.

Thank you to all of the parents at Blue Grass Elementary.  You all help to make this school an outstanding place to send our kids!
