Brownsburg High School's renovation and expansion project is expected to be completed in June of 2020. After today's message, we will continue to send updates to families who have children in Brownsburg Schools in grades 8-12 in 2018-2019, to BCSC staff, and to anyone who has subscribed through our website. These emails will be sent quarterly to provide information specific to each phase of the project, focusing on areas that impact students and their daily routines at Brownsburg High School, or summer visitors to BHS.
Since the project started in late 2016, forty-four classrooms have been renovated and are in use at Brownsburg High School. With the completion of Phase 2C this summer, twenty-three additional classrooms will be available at the start of the 2018-19 school year. While other spaces are still being renovated,
returning students will be taking classes in
sixty-seven classrooms
that have just been renovated.
The work in Phase 2E wraps up this summer with the new PE/Health space in 2E already in use seven class periods each day by our athletic development classes. 2C continues through the summer. Phase 2D includes the reconfiguration of Entry #1 at BHS. THE MAIN ENTRANCE AT BHS WILL BE CLOSED THIS SUMMER. BHS office staff will relocate to the Senior Academy during the summer. Phase 3A started at spring break with the closing of the BHS Auditorium. This phase will continue through the end of 2019 . Read on for more details on what changes will be in place this summer.

Overview of Phases 1B, 2A, 2B, 2E, 2D, 3C, & 3A

WHAT: Construction activities have continued behind temporary walls in the main part of the high school building and work on the northeast side of the building will be completed in the next few weeks.
- Phase 1B, 2A, 2B - Carpet to be installed and minor finishing to be completed this summer to close out these phases
- Phase 2E – Work on the classroom space for physical education, health and performing arts will be complete in the next few weeks. The PE/Health space is complete and classes have been meeting here since mid-April. The performing arts classroom space will be finished in a few weeks, just in time for the fall marching season.
- Phase 2C - During the summer, temporary walls will be moved to reopen 22 classrooms that were renovated in this phase. The BHS Clinic (pictured) will relocate to its new permanent home and most of the new Team Office space will re-open for the 2018-19 school year. Some small parts of the new Team Offices will remain closed when classes resume until large beams for Phase 3A can be installed.
- Phase 2D - The main entry at BHS - Entry #1 - WILL BE CLOSED THIS SUMMER. This is necessary for the reconfiguration of the front entrance. The BHS office staff will be available in the Senior Academy main office (Entry #12) throughout the summer, with the exception of June 25-29, July 2-6, 31 and August 1. Entry #1 will be open when students return August 2, 2018.
- Phase 3A - (see timeline below) This phase will continue through the end of 2019. Since Spring Break, the BHS Auditorium has been closed. It will reopen in January 2020. School events have already been held in alternate locations like East and West Middle School and Connection Pointe Christian Church. As Phase 3A moves from the Auditorium into the original 1971 portion of the building, travel between the main building and the Senior Academy, athletic, and performing arts facilities will be significantly impacted.
WHY: The core of the Brownsburg High School building has been relatively unchanged since it opened in 1971. With 13 additions over the last 46 years, the infrastructure of the building is in dire need of an upgrade. These upgrades will accommodate technology needs for teachers and students that weren't in place in 1971 and maintain a comfortable learning environment with updates to the aging HVAC system.

Building Access
- Entry #1 will be CLOSED starting June 1, 2018. The BHS office staff will relocate to the Senior Academy office (Entry #12) throughout the summer.

- During the summer months, visitor parking will be outside Entry #12, #14, and #15 with the main office relocated to the Senior Academy.

Possible Services Affected
- Many services will be cut off to the main part of the building at BHS this summer. The main office will relocate to the Senior Academy where services should continue with possible pre-planned interruptions.
Classrooms & Relocation
- Most summer activities (BHS Athletic Camps, etc) have been relocated to other facilities on the BCSC campus. Access to the building will be very limited throughout the summer months.

What's Next
Phase 3A is now in full swing. When classes resume, the old corridor D, on the west side of the building will no longer be in use. Also, the old corridor C will no longer extend past the auditorium and connect with the north end of the building. Travel between the main building and the Senior Academy, performing arts classrooms, and athletic space will go out Entry #1 into a secure, enclosed, temporary hallway, and then back into the building at the new Entry #16.
BHS families will receive more information in July as the start of the next school year nears.

Lincoln Construction
Lincoln Elementary is ready to welcome students on August 2, 2018. Lincoln held an Open House for new families May 16th and will have back to school events in July starting with New Family Tours, July 24th at 6:30pm.
