WHAT: Phase 1B constructs a new heating, cooling, and electrical facility in the area around the current cafeteria. The construction of this space, beginning over Spring Break, will make it possible to maintain services to all parts of the building throughout the project and facilitate future phases. It requires the closing of the Sandwich Shoppe and the south bus staging area. This will shift most of the school bus pick up and drop off to the current Sycamore Street student parking area. Special Education school bus pick up and drop off will now occur near door #5.
WHY: The core of the Brownsburg High School building has been relatively unchanged since it opened in 1971. With 13 additions over the last 46 years, the infrastructure of the building is in dire need of an upgrade. These upgrades will accommodate technology needs for teachers and students that weren't in place in 1971 and maintain a comfortable learning environment with updates to the aging HVAC system.
