Academy Nominates Ballard High School Filmmakers
The Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has nominated 17 productions by students in Ballard's Digital Filmmaking Program for High School Awards of Excellence. The nominations span seven categories, reflecting the diverse skills students learn in the program. These awards celebrate the most outstanding productions from five Northwest states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Productions are nominated by NATAS industry professionals. Ballard students received more than twice the nominations of any other school or organization in the region. The envelopes will be opened at the Northwest Emmy Awards on Saturday, June 3.

IMAX plans to premiere the two environmental documentaries produced by BHS students at World Environment Day (June 5). So as not to pre-empt their world premiere, the BHS Film Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 17 at 7:30 pm in our auditorium. (Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults, and will be sold at the door.) This date change will also allow the 31 Ballard film students whose work has been nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) to attend the Northwest Emmy Awards on June 3rd (where the envelopes will be opened). NATAS nominated 17 productions from Ballard's Digital Filmmaking Program for High School Awards of Excellence.
