This is just a quick reminder to workgroup members that the Wastewater Treatment Facilities Work Group will be meeting next week, on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in H-GAC's Conference Room A, Second Floor.

 

We will review developments related to WWTF in the plan, identify any priorities, and discuss whether changes to the I-Plan should be recommended to the BIG for consideration.

EPA Requests Comments on Recreational Criteria. The Federal Register has posted a notice that EPA is requesting comments on Draft Recreational Water Quality Criteria and Request for Scientific Views. This draft is directly related to the I-Plan's Research Priority 10.3: Determine appropriate indicators. 

 

H-GAC is Hiring! The Community and Environmental Planning department is hiring a senior water quality modeler. While the position will be within our socioeconomic modeling program, the focus of this position will relate to water quality projects such as the BIG. Summary of position: Performs highly complex analysis, research, and planning tasks. Work involves performing spatial and non-spatial analysis and developing plans and programs. More information is available on the H-GAC website. Please help us find someone great!

 

Clean Waters Initiative Workshops. The next CWI, on January 24, 2012, will address the sixth minimum control measure of an MS4 permit: pollution prevention and good housekeeping. For more information and to register, visit the CWI website

 

2012 Bacterial Source Tracking - State of the Science Conference. Feb. 28 & 29, 2012, in New Braunfels. More information is available on the Texas Water Resources Institute Web Page.  

 

Storm Water Training Videos.  In its lending library, H-GAC has three employee training programs (DVD and supporting print material) that you might be interested in borrowing. These programs are designed to help meet requirements of an MS4 permit. If you are interested in borrowing any of the programs, just let me know. Topics include:

Instructions to call into BIG meetings: 

 

To call in, dial 713-481-0090 (or 800-240-3895). You will be asked to enter your passcode, followed by the # sign. The passcode is 1084242. If you dial in before H-GAC, you will hear "music on hold".  Once H-GAC dials in, the music will cease and the conference call will begin.  During the course of the conference, you may hear beeps.  A single beep indicates someone has joined the conference call.  A double beep indicates someone has left the conference call. Remember--if you do press hold, everyone will hear your hold music.
