Jump Starting Transit-Oriented Development in Prince George's County
Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, along with local and state officials, held a press conference to announce that Transit-Oriented Development will be jump started in Prince George's County.
The event, held at Metro I at University Town Center, recognized that Prince George's County must "jump start" development at our Metro stations, with six critical components to do so: focus, infrastructure, fast-tracking the permit process, financial incentives, vision & marketing, and leadership & collaboration.
The vision will focus on five major Metro stations: Largo - soon to be anchored by the $650 million Regional Medical Center; New Carrollton - home to the Internal Revenue Service and the future location of the Department of Housing and Community Development; Prince George's Plaza - a mixed-use area that consists of The Mall at Prince George's and University Town Center; Branch Avenue - offering over 75 acres of undeveloped land, with upscale and rental dwelling units The Apollo Residences, currently underway; and Suitland - anchored by the U.S. Census Bureau. |
