Federal Contractor Moves to National Harbor
Spartan Business & Technology, a federal contractor with offices in Alexandria, VA and Fayetteville, NC, moved its headquarters into a 7,000-square-foot office space at National Harbor. This space accommodates its 100 employees and the 62 more that will come with a planned acquisition in early 2014. President Lorenzo Downing said the company has the option to expand another 7,000 square feet if needed.

MGM Wins Casino Project in Prince George's County
MGM Resorts International emerged as the winning bidder on December 20, 2013, for the right to build a casino in Prince George's County. MGM's proposed $925 million casino resort at National Harbor is expected to generate more than $700 million in pretax gambling revenue in fiscal 2019. |
Walton Signs Agreement with Mid Atlantic Builders & Haverford Homes
The Walton Group of Companies has entered into agreements with Mid-Atlantic Builders and Haverford Homes to build townhomes at Westphalia Town Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Each builder purchased 102 townhome lots that together commit the remaining 204 of 348 lots. Walton's first builder agreement was made with NVR, Inc., for 144 lots. The latest agreements with Mid-Atlantic Builders and Haverford Homes complete Phase 1 with 100% commitment for 348 homes. Phase I work is projected to be completed in early 2014. |

Annual "State of the City" Address
The Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce will host the Annual "State of the City" Address on Wednesday, January 29, at 8am. The breakfast meeting will be held at Bowie Senior Center, 14900 Health Center Drive, Bowie, MD.

Leadership Maryland offers leadership training and development to Maryland executives, officials, business owners and educators from both the public and private sectors.
