VOTER VOICE ON PREVAILING WAGE IN RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION
The New York State Senate's 2018 Budget Resolution includes language that calls for a "discussion about whether the definition of public work should be updated."  NYSBA clearly understands that this "discussion" opens the door to applying prevailing wage laws to many residential construction and improvement projects which were previously not within the definition of public work.

UPDATE ON FEDERAL LEGISLATION AIMED AT SCAFFOLD LAW
Congressman John Faso, a Republican representing New York's 19th district, has taken a bold step and introduced legislation aimed at overriding New York's infamous Scaffold Law. Due to the New York legislature's cozy relationship with certain special interests, namely the personal injury trial bar, this move is necessary and overdue. Click here to read the full article.

TOUR OF HOMES GETS EVEN BETTER WITH RAISE THE ROOF CAMPAIGN
When you look outside it's hard to believe the 2018 Horizons Tour of Homes is right around the corner, but it is.

We currently have 15 builders and 25 homes committed for this summer's show. While that would be an impressive home show, the BNBA is kicking it up a notch with the Raise the Roof campaign.

Raise the Roof is a BNBA fundraiser to raise $250,000 to benefit Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Hospital. Builders, trade partners and professionals have already committed over $190,000, but we need your help to meet our goal.

Builders are encouraged to donate a portion of the sale of their Horizons home show house to the campaign. We are encouraging trade and professional partners to work with builders to donate time and material to help meet the goal. Members can also create their own donation campaign to benefit Raise the Roof. Finally, members can make a charitable donation as part of the campaign, just make sure it's done through the BNBA to be included in the marketing campaign. Roswell Park and the BNBA will do extensive marketing to thank donors, so don't miss out on this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many impacted by cancer.

Tour of Homes Official Sponsors are almost sold out so sign up today!! As an Official Sponsor your company will receive special recognition before, during and after the show including on ParadeCraze, BNBA website, designated media purchases, at the homes and on the official home show map. It's a tremendous value being part of the largest and most successful home show in the history of the BNBA. Contact Joe Benedict for details.
