BPCIA Board News

The BPCIA Board would like to congratulate Cheryl Laska on her retirement from Independence Tube.  We also want to thank her for sitting on the board for nine years, and most recently serving as our President.  We wish her a happy retirement with her family!

At the Annual Meeting in April, Robert Mead, from Ingredion, became the new BPCIA President.  He has served on our board for five years. Rob is eager to work with the board to continue our mission to serve our business members.

Tammy Knor is our newest board member from the Midway Hotel Center, Weglarz Hotel Collection.  Tammy is the Director of Sales & Marketing for the Weglarz Collection of Hotels on the Midway Hotel Center Campus.  She has worked in the hospitality industry for 25+ year, and held a variety of positions including Operations and Human Resources prior to moving into Sales. Tammy was the opening Director of Sales for the Residence Inn and Holiday Inn Midway Hotels in 2008, and returned to the campus to oversee the sales efforts for both of these hotels, in addition to the Hyatt Place Midway last summer.  Tammy was born and raised on the southwest side, and is a Mother McAuley Alum. (so is her daughter Devin).

Midway Modernization Program
Unlimited Free Wi-Fi

O'Hare and Midway international airports will now be providing free unlimited Wi-Fi making long layovers a little more bearable. The Chicago Department of Aviation says the airports previously provided free Wi-Fi with a 30-minute limit. Passengers will now have access to unlimited Wi-Fi - plus streaming capabilities - with rolling ads every 45 minutes.

Users can also opt for faster speeds by purchasing a one-day or a monthly subscription.
The switch to unlimited Wi-Fi is part of larger efforts to modernize the Chicago airports. Airport officials say they are working on two more modernization programs concerning technology and security.

O'Hare and Midway airports serve more than 100 million passengers each year and generate $45 billion for the area's economy annually.
