BPRS-LA is looking forward to an exciting 2015, but let's take a quick look back.

2014 was a breakthrough year for the Black Public Relations Society of Los Angeles (BPRS-LA). Under the leadership of President Shawn Turner, BPRS-LA kicked off the year with the Pat Tobin Pioneers Awards, honoring Rae Jones, president/CEO of Raediant Communications, veteran entertainment publicist Roz Stevenson, and Tiffany Smith-Anoa'i, vice president of entertainment diversity and communications at CBS Television.

Throughout the year, BPRS-LA hosted events featuring dynamic speakers including radio producer Felicia "The Poetess" Morris, Kim Walters from Codeblack Films, Bree Bosselmann, SVP of THAtargeted, travel and tourism expert Toni Purry, and Nina Parker from CBS' The Insider. BPRS-LA's "Power PR: The Fundamentals and Future of PR" workshop featured industry experts covering an array of topics from media relations to writing and social media. Throughout the summer, BPRS-LA also hosted a series of summer networking mixers.

2015 will be another stellar year, and now is a great time to join BPRS-LA or renew your membership. BPRS-LA dues are currently $50 for professionals and $25 for students, but beginning February 1, 2015 dues will increase to $75 for professionals and $30 for students. Please take this time to join or renew your membership, and encourage a friend to sign up or gift a membership to a colleague or friend.
