Dear Burlington Township Families,
We are sending this e-alert in reference to the rash of "creepy clown" sightings and threats that have been circulating around the nation. We have been made aware of social media posts that now specifically mention The Burlington Township School District.
The district immediately alerted the police upon learning of the disturbing social media posts this evening. The safety of our children and our community is a top priority for us and we are taking this matter seriously.
The Burlington Township Police Department is actively investigating these social media posts and pursuing those responsible for them. The school district will continue working with the BTPD to ensure the safety of our children and our schools. As the investigation stands now, the BTPD have reported no credible threat, but we will have increased police presence at our schools in order to provide an extra layer of security.
Everyone should be reminded that posts such as these cross the line
between harmless prank and disruptive activities. The Burlington Township School District and the Burlington Township Police Department make safety and security a top priority. We will continue to use our standard safety precautions and will maintain open communications and collaborate with the BTPD throughout this investigation.
Thank you again to those who brought the information to the attention of the authorities and the school district. Your involvement helped the issue be addressed in a timely manner.
