Rescue Update
It has been a busy few weeks for the San Diego House Rabbit Society!
As our Rabbit Wrangler volunteers spent 3 days helping to capture more than 20 dumped bunnies in a Chula Vista park, we were also preparing to step in and assist with a hoarding situation in Warner Springs, where two unaltered rabbits snowballed into
more than 100 unaltered rabbits.
From Warner Springs, we were expecting to receive five rabbits and two moms with their babies. The situation ended up being much more severe, with
wounded and ailing rabbits needing immediate rescue. All in all, we have opened the shelter up to 18 adults and juveniles and 15 newborns, for
a total of 33 rabbits saved.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the over 20 volunteers who stepped up on the day of intake, which allowed us to focus on performing wellness checks on the Warner Springs rabbits and tend to their immediate medical needs.
Gratitude also goes to the five foster families that have opened up their homes to the mamas and their babies. Caring for newborns is an around-the-clock job, and we are so fortunate to have your support.
